+1 on this. The auto makers tried using these years ago with poor results. They are called IDC connectors (insulation displacement). In the game industry these were used in pinball machines for years. The mfg's used them for ease of assembly and low cost. They are the number one problem in older machines. If they are used in a climate controlled environment with NO movement or vibration, they are acceptable. As for me, I don't use them on ANYTHING!

Just wondering how to also get the front turn signals to stay on at night all the time? Any ideas? or do they?

Thumbs up LED DRL club

Thank you Brainhart,

I followed all of your instructions (it wasn't too hard). Everything worked out great . Did it without taking of the front fascia, I just remove the inner fender (lot easier than removing the front fascia).
Love how they look at night.

Ok, not sure what I did, but I followed the wiring instructions, did it without removing the bumper. Easy mod. Now, the DRLs are always on - headlights on or off. However, when I put my high beams on, they stay on for a second, then I hear the relay click them off! :(

So, what's up? It looks like from the pictures above that others have all their lights on, including the high beams! What's up?? :(

Thumbs up diode is critical

direction of the diode is critical. If you notice, on one end of the diode, there is a black bar i screw up the first time and blow the diode went back to radio shack to get more and it working fine

Thanks. I thought of that, but I would think that if I screwed up the direction on the diodes, then the DRLs would not be on when the headlights were on. I also don't see how that would affect the high beams

Seems the DRLs are working just fine, and the headlights on and off work just fine. The high beams with all the rest is what doesn't work! I followed the diagram very closely...I will take it apart tomorrow to double check.

thanks again.

Thats interesting, have to see whats up. The circuit that is tapped into is the front side marker lights, which are always on, high or low beam.

In the RS, the high beam isnt an extra light, its just a plate inside the housing that covers the upper part of the headlight, when the high beam is requested, that plate physically moves out of the way to allow all the light to shine.

I know I've used my high beams since September when I did it, havent noticed anything, although I've never checked to see if the fogs were on too...

I didn't know that about the high beams. When I turn them on, they go on for about a second, then I hear them click off...I can't keep them on. I know I wired it correctly and again, don't see how that could affect this since the DRLs work now all the time :( Oh well...I check it, then just remove it.

Edit: I didn't think the wires that were tapped into had anything to do with any other lights. It looks to only have 6 wires - 2 for the left headlight & DRL, 1 ground, and 2 for the right headlight and DRL. I'm not sure how that affects the side marker or the high beams...

thanks

Ok, found the issue Due to my expert soldering skills (heavy sarcasm) when unwrapping one of the diodes, I noticed it was cracked! Fixed it and now all works! Now I can't wait to replace those DRL bulbs with the new LEDS from AAC! Hopefully they ship soon!

Thanks for the help!

Cool, glad its fixed. Thats weird it had anything to do with the headlights/high beams. That bumper wiring harness has 6 wires, left front side marker light, right front side marker light, left DRL, right DRL, and 2 grounds...

Probably has something to do with the DRL circuit backfeeding into the power module, and messing with things there. Anybody know what GM calls that thing? All I know is that Chrysler calls theirs a TIPM, Totally Integrated Power Module...
