i know the power companies are regulated, fortis, epcor and atco all call once in a while trying to beat each others prices but i doubt that they go Fishing to see just how much people will pay over and above their rate. there is nothing wrong or illegal about turning a profit but scaring someone away from your dealership by not bieng competitive doesnt make sense. your business relies on customer relationships and when guy X says to 10 buddies hey, these guys are gougers, and those 10 tell 10 more it doesnt take long before the vehicles get hard to sell because other dealers are more fair or care more about the word of mouth to sell their vehicles by referral. thats all. i doubt anyone paying alot over invoice is bragging about what a deal they got. and that isn't good for the bottom line in the long run.

I agree..but all I can say about CMP is that they give you the option. You want to order one, you can have MSRP no problem, no questions asked. U want it off the lot, well, apparently you have to pay more...but at least they give you the option....imo its not a bad way to do business on a car this popular
But, if dealerships did offer msrp right off the lot, they would foster a much better reputation, thats a for sure...

also, my dealer said that if i find a car similar to mine onthe lot that lots of dealers are willing to trade for an ordered car. or another allocation. so i guess an option for someone if they bump into a deal like this they could try to do a transfer. some have done this already. he actually offered me $2500 to wait for the next one and give up my ordered one so he could get one of a different color for someone in a bigger hurry than me.

the reputation... it lasts... thats the only thing i'm trying to make. nobody buys only one car in their lifetime. hell the gmc pontiac dealer we use found, priced and delivered a brand new X5 for my father when he couldnt decide between that and a denali. and his price was $1200 cheaper than direct from bmw fleet sales. thats a relationship!

This is a practice almost unique to the auto industry. You don't see Rogers saying to customers "well that iPhone is real popular, we are going to charge you an extra $50 for it" but car dealers do this all the time.

From having from this, CMP does not only lost this sale of a lot vehicle, they lost the sale of an ordered vehicle and they lost any future potential sales as well. A 3 for 1 loss on a short sighted decision.

ooh, that is a bad example!! Rogers does exactly this....but not with the phone but with its data packages....they charge whatever the heck they want because if you want the Iphone they are the only game in town. The only reason they dont with the Iphone is that apple controls the consumer pricing on that, not the phone dealers....

Substiture extended warranty for data plan and the situation is back to a good comparison.

You don't have to pay over MSRP @ southgate chev and I have 3 ss cars available one on ground one at the rail head in calgary and one left the plant today. Easy as that I agree that charging over MSRP will always come back to haunt you. Give me a call @ 403-256- 4960 We'll treat you fair.John

I can personally vouch for John at Southgate. He told me he wouldn't charge over MSRP and hasn't. He has also done everything he can to try to get my Camaro here and has also tried to get answers on it. It should be here in a few days and I know there will be no surprises on their end for me.

Call John and talk to him. I can assure you he will be MORE than fair!

I have also seen the SS they have for sale at Southgate and it is a BEAUTY!
