Eight years down the line NOW I know when that moment approaches. And I don't need a tach to tell me.

I usually run it up to the limiter and once the whole car starts vibrating and reverberating like it's gonna blow apart I let it go another second or two just to be sure, then I shift.

If you are losing your sight, you shouldn't be driving.

Who's the moron now?

You make no sense, I'm in my mid 60's and my vision sucks. Using the HUD is so much easier to see what speed you are going. You don't have to constantly look down, have to let your eyes adjust to see the needle. With the HUD you just look through it while driving, and your eyes are never off the road or having to adjust. Try it some time, you may like it, unless once again your car has no HUD option.

If you're not spitting valves you're just not trying.

I have it and its useless to me, its a distraction. I seen the little tach you can bring up but I can't read it with any accuracy and when I do my eyes are off the road. The MPH feature is good but I keep it below out of site and if I want to see it I look down at it. My problem is the steering wheel completely blocks out the turn signal and high beam indicators. Thinking about moving them down below into the LARGE open area with nothing in it that is easily seen where they belong. My helper monkey carries on like a ape when I don't turn the high beams down and I'm sick of it.

Took 200 mile trip again yesterday all highway and still 25mpg. Its so odd that this car gets 25 local or highway.........gotta be the converter. I never had a car that didn't get better mpg on the highway.

Geez its called a trunk monkey and is noted for hitting attempted car jackers or others over the head with a crow bar, used to be on many commercials for Ron Tonkin a large multi brand dealer here in the N.W...…… And the bets time to shift if when your pretty peaked out in torque, HP just looks nice and is there showing how powerful the engine is making that torque...….

TORQUE is what moves you, I always get a laugh with guys chasing mythical 500 Hp or what ever figures.... Then change the rev limit to way beyond what the cam is even tested too along with the top end so they can stretch out the shift to be passed on the fly by the guy who does know how to shift in the power band. And frankly I use a speed hut shift light obd2 with custom set shift points per gear, they even have nice video with "Sailing"..... Happy Mothers day...…….
https://www.youtube.com/embed/VyP7UQ8TGxs And the guy who set his in the video is way too lame...…. I shift just after peak torque quickly and sort of rev match myself or if I over rev I may fishtail.

Speaking of thread resurrection, I'd forgotten about this one and googled L99 HP. I reread most of it and am not quite sure where it stood in the end but I'm glad I found it again. There were a few forgotten characters in this thread. Hope they survived the last 4 years!
