Hmmm interesting read about the 2011 GT500. The weight savings with that aluminum block is going to be crucial. I hope GM has something up its sleeve to compete......

Were I to guess? None...at least in the near future -- there's very little you can do to a CAR without a full-on overhaul. They may shave a few pounds here and there...but nothing drastic. Remember -- Camaro comes STANDARD with aluminum-block engines (which is Ford's only real weight-saver here)...GM doesn't make them any other way for passenger cars.

I think we will be pleasantly surprised at the weight of the Z, "if" it's produced. With all these quotes of 4300lbs...I think it will be less.

I mean...if the GT is 3600 and the SS is 3850. It's reasonable to expect a Z28 at ~4000 if the GT500 pegs in around 3800. PLUS...the CTS-V is a very different car in terms of weight and chassis. It starts at Camaro SS weight carrying only a V6....
