i also only drive my camaro on nice days to cruise ive had mine since 08/09 and i have only 4200 miles i dont like driving it every day because i like the sound of my exhaust wich makes me push the gas pedal more and she does like gas also at my job there are dumptrucks up and down the street all day so after work it would be covered in dust not to mention they wet the street down to keep the dust down so even on a nice day driving to work it would get dirty so i just drive to the track ,on saturdays and church on sundays

agreed..the camaro isnt ment to be a drive on sunny days maybe once a week, its made to be driven like a camaro should be, its a performace car not a fancy luxury car, drive it like it was made to be driven

Can't say that I do... My problem is that I don't have one, but I don't think it'll be a problem with my gf... She's got a 1LT for a DD and actually considered a beater, but there's no room at her house now that her mom got a 2LT. Personally I have an old dustbuster cargo van (lumina APV) which I'll use as a beater car once I put it on the road. It'll be nice to have some cargo room for tools, plywood, and whatnot.

I'm 20 now, haven't had that van on the road in the 5 years I've owned it, I got a motorcycle to use instead. In Florida insurance is optional on bikes so I'm only paying $140 a year for a mid level of liability and roadside assistance. Since I bought used, all the gas and insurance money it saved me over a car, it's basically paid for itself and its maintenance.

I suggested getting a old clunker to drive back and forth to work for around a $1000 dollars. And she thinks its a stupid idea. I tell her I don't want to put 50 miles a day on this car. As nice as it is, I would like to keep it and drive it on Sunny days and the weekends. She hit the roof and thinks I have lost my mind. What do you guys think?? Is this a stupid idea or have I just gone bonkers?? Any advice appreciated. Thanks
My thoughts. If you are able to afford a daily driver, buy it. I'm fortunate to have my truck and keep my camaro in the garage for those sunny day drives.

I have my Silverado as a daily driver, or 1 of the 2 Harleys. My Camaro is for fun and the once in a while smile on my face! Oh, and my wife has no problem with that.

Sunny days only. Got my SS last August and its never seen rain. 3300 miles and never been out of my site. So far still a toy. I kept a daily driver for the rough stuff.
The wife thinks I'm nuts, so what else is new ?

I have to admit, my DD is my 93 Z. My 2SS loves the pretty weather.

I'm glad my wife rather me keep my bike (Gixxer) so that I can save gas then drive my SS to and from work. Before the SS she was telling me maybe I should sell the bike. Now i have the best of both worlds.

I'm a WIFE and a MOM of 3. I totally agree with you in getting a different car to drive back and forth to work in. If I had to go back to work, I would be buying a different car to drive and our Camaro would stay garaged. But it would pain me dearly to do so. :(

Right now, our Camaro is my daily driver. However, I don't work and the only time I drive it is to run errands when it's NOT raining or snowing or pick up the kids if they are sick at school (which is rare). This is not because hubby has forbade me from doing so. It's because I treasure this car and I want it to stay nice. If it's raining or snowing, I wait and do my errands after hubby gets home so I can drive his SUV. We are kicking around getting a 3rd car so I would have something to drive during the winter BUT I really don't want the expense of paying more car ins. and having to deal with 3 vehicles if we have to move again (which would be out of state).

Tell your wife to chill. She is the one being unreasonable, not you.

Not a stupid idea at all. I kept my 2005 Impala for my DD luckily it was paid off a while before I got my Camaro. Although my Camaro is supposed to be my weekend driver i have had it just over 8 months and have over 10,000 miles on it.....I just can't seem to make myself leave her in the garage everyday. And I drive 60 miles roundtrip to work everyday, I do drive the Impala MOST days.

The '95 has only 28,000 miles on it and is my show car. I decided not to trade it on the new SS (which just crested 1,000 miles) and so now I have three... So, yes, whether I'm driving my show car, my daily driver, or my new baby, I am always driving a Camaro!
Too freaking cool!

My DD is a Madza 626, and my camaro is my Harley. The wife hates the camaro, but doesn't say a word.
