Starting up your car in the morning

I just wanted to know how long do you guys usually heat up your car in the morning when it hasn't been on during the night. I usually tend to be late for work because I usually wait about a good 10-15 minutes before I get going. lol. but do some of you just start the car and go and if you do have you experienced any problems? Thanks!

I start and go... I just don't romp on it til it warms up. No problems and I have over 13,000 miles on it so far.

Start and let car warm up about 30 - 45 seconds . But it takes a few miles before the oil temp and transmission warms to proper temperature.

No, No, No! Always let it run for a bit!!! The colder it is the longer it needs to run! Even in the summer time it can take a solid 30 sec for oil to be fully circulating around the engine. The faster the engine heats up the more uneven expansion of parts you get. Your engine will definitely last longer if you let run for a bit. Just a minute or so in the summer, and just 5-10 mins in the winter is all you need to give some life to your engine.

Usually with 8 cylinders you should wait about 30-45 seconds and let the oil flow through the engine but just drive at low RPM the first couple of miles and wait for oil temps and engine temps to get hot.

I turn on the engine, do a DIC check on my tires, oil levels, etc. so a total of 3 minutes... then I drive her slow, don't floor it. About maybe 5-10 mins pulling out of my neighbourhood, then I drive normally =D

I always let her warm up for a minute or two... You want to let the oil circulate before you start putting the motor under a load. You'll add years of life to your engine this way.

You're wasting time and gas. Start it and drive off. Driving will warm it up faster than idling. Just drive gently until the temps come up to normal.

In winter I wait long enough for the air coming out of the vents to mostly defrost the windshield in the morning (visibility = kinda important ). When that's not an issue, I just go.

Wasting gas? Once you start to score the cylinder walls due to your "get in and go" mentality and you start to get blow by and low power after a few years and your mileage goes out the window how much gas do you think you will use then?
