I had my car dynoed this sat. and it put down 350 h.p and 371 torque and all I have is a cai, 85mm throttlebody flowmaster catback and a base email custom tune with 4 degrees knock on the upper end and that's only 17 h.p away from srt-8 numbers. So I think they put out more than what Dodge says.

Ignore the private drag times, no one knows what a person might have done with their car while still calling it "stock" (tires/tire pressure, powershifting, suspension adjustments, etc.).
Here is what C&D got (factory delivered condition, lift throttle shifts, weather/altitude corrected, etc.):
But comparing it to a car in it's own price range, the Maro SS shuts it down. |

Can't really compare price of a base LS to an R/t, the difference is more than power as the R/T also come pretty nicely equipped. Also i wouldn't the SS "shuts it down" the manual SS does have a nice advantage, the auto SS is damned close to the R/T. |

so if took a stock car to the track and powershifted it, you would consider the numbers to be skewed?

I have to totally agree. The 6 seed is probably more fun, but the auto is definatly the beast. I really want to see how a 10 auto R/T with the Super track pack stands up, if the 3 season tires and the ability to completely shut the stability control off would really help in the 1/4 mile. No doubt it should bring handling up quite a bit (add to the previous different shocks, apparently bilstiens and the bigger rear sway bar.

1bad65...i would have to agree with you. the auto R/Ts are the ones putting down awesome numbers and a 6-speed R/T against an auto SS isnt going to win unless the SS driver sucks. humans cant shift faster than todays autos!

its been shown that the SRT is putting down 25-30 more HP at the wheels than the R/T is at the wheels (not exactly a 50hp difference). both stock, both run on the same dyno, one right after the other. thats why its close.

I love driving standards though. I seriously considered a Challenger awhile back, and I did alot of research on them. Even knowing the autos were getting better times, and that I was going to race it, I would have gotten the 6-speed.

Putting one trim of each car on a dyno automatically means all of the cars are underrated? Highly unlikely.

I think he was referring to how close the 2 actually are by comparing same day/same dyno. That said there have been more than a few dynos showing the R/T is well underrated.

1bad65...i'll agree with you on that again...if i were only set on drag racing, i would have opted for the auto for sure. i however like driving back country roads where its really fun to bang though the gears!
