And speaking of Ford's new 5.0, I couldn't help but research a little and found that it costs more than an LS7! Hmm, LS7, or Ford...anything. Sorry, I couldn't resist. But seriously, the site says 14,995.00 for the 5.0 crate engine.

Which, now that I think about it, would probably raise the cost of the Mustang a lot IF they do decide to use it. I can't wait to see what happens, with the weight increase thats bound to happen, and possible cost increase.

And one more thing to consider, 6.2l>>5.0l no matter how many cams it has. This is simple physics. The minor increases you get in efficiency/rpm range due to a 4v design have diminished in comparison to modern 2v pushrod motors like the LS3. Not to mention A DOHC motor is signficantly more expensive to manufacture, heavier, bigger, and harder/more expensive to mod than a pushrod motor. The only advantage the mustang should maintain over the camaro even with a new motor would be weight (due to lighter chassis overall), but with a bigger 6 speed trans (assuming) and bulkier motor, some of that advantage will disappear anyway.

I must say though, I respect the Mustang, and I am glad to see Ford come up with a competitive car again. Between 1995-2004 it was more than a little sad to see an American V8 get killed by so many cars out there (although it was fun for me).

Saw the unvieling of the new muatang last night, very diappointed. Ford didn't even have
the sense to change the rear suspension to independent.

What's that? Oh, I just thought I heard the sound of someone hammering a nail into a coffin.

I'm not apologizing for anything. And if you are this interested in the hp issue, then you should know that I've covered this before. At the time I posted the comment in question it was accurate, put simply Ford changed their mind.....it happens. I knew about it well before any mention of the same ever appeared here and even pm'd one of your mods regarding several issues before Ford revealed the hp officially, and informed him of exactly this. (I actually knew about it long before I e-mailed him regarding the same)

IIRC, and I am virtually vertain that I do, at one point FBodfather made a comment that the SS Camaro would start below 30k. I think we all know how that ended up at this point. Given who he is it would be pretty amazing for him to have been wrong, so the question here has to be 'what happened?' Put simply, as I said above, things change.

Except it wasn't accurate, and you were ridiculing the person who correctly knew the HP. Instead of just being wrong you're now wrong and in denial.

With your logic I can just say whatever I want and then claim people "changed their minds".

I corrected this info before Ford released the figures, I just couldn't do it publically so I pm'd a mod more or less because I knew it would bring out the fanbois every forum unfortunately suffers from.

Like I said, at the time I made the statement it was accurate

Not really. The original numbers being talked about before pricing was announced was around $29.8-$29.9k, that's only a $300 increase.

Yes small plans can change suddenly without telling the public but a change in plans on which motor and drive train they are using doesn't. Changes such as these take a long time to actually implement and can't be changed on a whim. syr74 is simply using that as an excuse to cover the fact that he was talking out of his a$$ and didn't know what he was talking about.

Just to clarify, as I don't want Fbodfather unintentionally discredited; He never said it would come in at under 30k. Simply that it would be "priced competitively with a comparible Mustang." Which...it is.

Anyways, lets all take a chill pill please. It really doesn't matter who was right or wrong...it is what it is, and there's other things to argue about. (Like how much slower than the Camaro the Mustang's going to be)

I will be perfectly honest... after seeing pics of the new Mustang I kinda liked the exterior. Interior is still mostly boring, though I do love that glass roof it has going. But yeah... after seeing that it will still not be keeping up with the Camaro with a weak 210 HP V6 and 315 HP GT... i just laughed and went back to staring at the Camaro Black that is my background at work
