CEL with Doug Thorley Shorties??

Are people getting the same CEL with the Doug Thorley shorties as the people with the JBA's? Are the Doug Thorley's having the same "sealing" issue? I am trying to decide which of the 2 to buy.

Not one CEL from any of the first group...correct me if I'm wrong guys and gals.

JBAs are getting blasted with sealing issues.

I have yet to take a call on a set of DT V6 Shorties that have had the same issue.

Let er rip!! Doug Thorley V6 Shorties info on the Sponsor Marketplace Bolt ons thread.

Forgive me for not sticking to the subject here guys, but how much do the DT shorties cost? I almost have enough for my CAI and was having these headers in mind for my next mod. I've read somewhere on this forum that a fellow member had this problem after installing long tube headers if I'm not mistaken.

350 shipped... and around 350 or so to install, depending on where you take it.

LT's will def throw a code since there are often different or no Catalytic converters installed with them.

These retain the factory Cats.

The DT should not get the code issues the JBA's are getting because of the weld from header to cat. The JBA's have a "stacker" flange that is the cause of the leaks which causes a CEL to appear. There are a cpl people who have had no issues with the JBA and then there is a few , like me, who have resolved the issue. The DT's however are not as "Do It Yourself" friendly as the JBa are. Just be sure you choose a trustworthy shop to do the welding on your pipes and you should have no problems with the Doug Thorley headers.

The JBA's don't through a cel if they are installed correctly.

On the SS you probably are not seeing any CEL. There are a lot of V6 people including myself that are having difficulties with the JBA's working without throwing a Check Engine Light. Mainly because of what Mankind stated the stacker flange is leaking.

is it really tough to install on your own, or is it not recommended?

If you can weld and have the welder it's not that bad .removing the manifolds and installing the header is just time consuming .there's one bolt on each header that's a pisser .One cool thing is atleast the bolts come off easy do to it being new.

What is the problem with using different (high flow) catalytic converters? Can the engine codes be removed with a dyno tune so that the car can still pass emissions?

Has anyone done a dyno with the DT shorties? Just curious what (if any) gains people are getting from them.
