Thanks for the responses guys and the heads up.
I bought it to experiment with. The mufflers have been eliminated already and I expect it to sound crappy but want to be sure there was no initial fitment issues. Want to try a cross tube at the rear which works very well at controlling raspiness and drone on C4 Corvettes. I'll then change it from there. I'll let you know if it is successful (??). Thanks for the help.

I'm told 2.5" pipes in place of the 2.25" will sound like rice and you will lose some bottom end torque to gain 0-2 hp on the top end. I guess on the v6 bigger is not better over 2.25", at least at our power levels. If you do it you then have to control any bad sounds with the right muffler and maybe a resonated x pipe. Might as well get a system already designed for what you are looking for instead of backyard engineering thats all guesswork. I did magnaflow 14" mufflers for a deeper tone, left the 2.25" back pipes alone and got drone inside the cabin from the free flowing mufflers. Did resonated x pipe and killed most of the drone. Now sound deep and smooth and even better after my modded airaid box. This wasn't a kit so I relied on the mfg's knowledge, sound bites and my muffler shop owner's 30 years experience. Worked out pretty well.
Hope this helps somewhat |

Could some please explain me what is the point of X and H pipes?
I mean would it be better to have completely separated pipes? What would you do to get low and soft sound from exhaust? |

Lower, less drone and smoother tone really came from a resonated x pipe. Only Magnaflow has it. Also more power from it especially in the low to mid range so I'm told. It sort of scavanges a bit like headers from right at the back of the x pipe muffler setup(looks like a muffler as on the L99 V8 exhaust, again I'm told.

I love them it gave the sound more of a rumble... I've never dyno'd my car so I don't know how much it added in performance but I love the sound I can't be happier with the purchase.. And so far no CEL

Sounds good, that was what I was hoping for was the rumble added to the good sounds now. As far as hp John's dyno graph is probably close, I am not expecting more the 5-6hp at the peak but wanted more bottom/mid range for more street response as he got. A SS in GMHTP magazine with a catback only got 7hp tops which is about what I got on my LS1.
