Take the key to a good locksmith. These keys are side winder cut that you won't get at Home Depot. Locksmith may be able to use another blank & make you a door key.

These keys are Transponder keys, the Transponder is in the fob & it won't start unless it is close to the ign. I would not try to start with an unprogramed key as it might throw it into theft mode.

Check with a Locksmith for your fob keys too, these key are not that expensive, unlike similar G8 keys.

i thought about that... but failed to complete the thought on here. this would only work if you had a place to hide your phone. so you still kinda have the same problem. or you could borrow someone else's phone every time, which would be annoying.

Go to a SCUBA shop. There are several products you can use to store valuables and take them with you while diving. Some are as simple as a plastic bag with a lanyard http://www.leisurepro.com/Prod/Categ...344.html?Hit=1, to an Otter Box http://www.leisurepro.com/Prod/CategoryID_970/Context_965/Sort_Stock/DescSort_0/OTR2.html?Hit=1

I've used both to protect rental car keys, hotel keys and money while shore diving. As long as you have a pocket, can tuck it into your wetsuit or have a place to attach a lanyard, you should be golden.

I would hate to walk out and have some punk run off with my key box. I just want to copy my key without the chip, is that really to hard to ask from gm :( I did find this and it made me laugh Imagine always having a rock on the side of my car, lol.

Worst part is, you'd have that 70 year old guy with the metal detector find the "rock" and then have a brand new car. I'd do what was mentioned above and take apart that key, and have it be my recreational key. But that would require a LOT of trips to water to warrant that.

They should have universal remotes out there that JUST unlock doors. I can't imagine there isn't one that is waterproof.

I drive my truck and leave the camaro home, plus how do you get a surfboard into the car? even a 6'-6" must be a challenge? I ride a 6'-10" I know it wouldnt fit in the car nor would i want salt / sand in the interior

Get a small lockbox and bolt it the undercarriage, just make it one you can unlock by feel.
