Ford has stated they are open to producing more based on interest and sales or something like that. I'll have to find the quote, but if they sell like crazy, that markup may only be there for a bit and this could become a fairly common trim level.

I bleed GM BLood...what do you expect!!

Well we shall see.... typically Ford has a hair up there but about new, limited edition cars And since the Boss is a 2 seater it asks to be compared to the Vette what can't the new 5.0 spinning to ungodly rpms handle the 5 year old LS7? the 3 year old LSA or LS9 Sax get Gm . I'm retarded. i'm not on a ford site with a 10 year old GM car. Gt500 prices are dropping i know i bought one for my wife...fine car. the GT around here...39 40K. no breaks so where does that leave the Boss?? 40 and 50 .....plus dealer mark up And the mustang was made to compete with the Vette in the 60's as their was no Camaro when the mustang came out. Lets talk about the 5.5 liter Gm is SO tight lipped about. 45th anniversary....something tells me it aint gonna be a special color. or stripe package. anything can happen... Sax get over yourself.. You think GM is gonna roll over. PLEASE, you stang guys are funny....you get a couple of descent products. And your the Best. Again Ford is playing in the intermediate section.. Zo6 Cf is worth every penny. So is the Zr1.

I can get a C6 for under 50k..
So comparing a 45k boss with dealer markup of 5k ( typically) Sorry a base vette....with hardly nothing will handle the Boss. so long as its a 1lt 6m Npp exhuasted....intake cam headers catless and ported tb and manifold. spin it to 6800 all day. dropped on stock bolts with nitto Nto5 road race tires. I've got the Boss killer plans already writen up. Ford where the intermediate cars play.

your serious?the Boss is a 2+2 coupe, with the option to get a track version with a rear seat delete(Laguna Seca) the 5.0L is very capable engine from what we have seen, and the Boss engine is derived from the 302R race car engine. Ford have been very consistent on its prices, the most expensive mustang ford has offer is the KR att 80k. ford created a class called ponycars and it never targeted the vette directly (until Shelby came along). does Thunderbird ring a bell(original vette competitor), even the Ford GT never targeted the vette. Lets not bring dealer Mark=up since Ford and GM have no control over IT. |

Seriously guys, comparison of 2 seaters to 4 seaters is beyond ridiculous and is just opening yourself up for ridicule.
At this point Ford has got the edge in ponycar performance but the Camaro is better looking by aboutt 100 miles. Remember that when the Camaro outperformed the Mustang in the '90s the Mustang still outsold it. It's Camaro's turn to outsell the Mustang and it is doing it pretty decisively with NO incentives. The 2012 upgrade in interior will probably make me a Camaro owner. I do wish that Chevy would get a little more power out of the V6 though and make it a better handler. Perhaps an "RSR" edition? |

Who can't stick a lumpier cam and better headers in the Boss Mustang as well? I remember that game from the '70s, and laughing at "disco 'vettes". Several friends then, with lightly massaged, older, and cheaper cars (Mustangs, Torino GT, Duster, Nova, Dart, Baracuda, Superbee and W-30 442..) would all routinely beat the snot out of the gold chain and tupé wearing, brand new late '70s 'vette owners. Hell, even some of my "Cal-Bug" VW driving friends did. Yeah; the slow 'vettes that were being sold new, at the same time as those ugly Mustang IIs. Yes, the 'vettes cost a whole bunch more money than my friends' cars that blew their doors off, and my friends would seek, destroy, and laugh their a$$es off. Yeah; they were immature. Couldn't and weren't the 'vettes also modified? Sometimes they were..Point is, there's always something that can be modified to go faster than the other guys stock car, and often for less money.. Which is why hot-rodding got started in the first place. BTW- I paid $16K under MSRP for my new, '09 KR; probably a bit less than a new Z06 was at that same time. My KR is much heavier, but stock for stock, makes more power, and is only a couple of 10ths slower (stock). With very minor mods, I can make over 600 at the tires. That's without swapping cams or modifying it so that I can't pass a smog check easily... Yes, I know the Z06 is an absolute monster once modded. You still can't get four people in them, which is partly why I chose the KR. Anyway, I doubt the base model, new 'vette driver will be any trouble at all, or if they'd even put their foot down, racing my lowly Mustang.

Oh you'd be surprised. I had one for a year and that thing was an attention magnet. It got so much attention that at times, I hated it because I just wanted to get from point A to B without being stared at or asked to race (no joke dude). It was a black convertible with a red interior and some nice rims, wedding dresses with sleeves
euro wedding dresses plus size wedding dresses but it was still a Mustang. I really like the Camaro a lot more though and the attention grab is just right. ![]() OP I commend you for having the guts and open mind that created this post. |

Me thinks this car will be EXPENSIVE. I'm talking Vette expensive. Look at the build sheet for the motor alone. Thats not even taking into consideration the new suspension and brakes. I'm sorry but if this car ends up costing anywhere near Vette prices I would rather have a Vette. I dont care if its underated or not I dont see it out running Vettes for the same price. I'm not a pure fanboy of 1 brand just a fanboy of all American pony/sports cars but for the money I would rather have a Vette.

With initial markup they will probably be gt500 priced, but once the dealers settle and if (hopefully!) they produce these in larger quantities so the dealers don't keep the markup, they will be priced between the gt500 and GT. This has already been confirmed that MSRP will be below the gt500.

The initial few months the prices will probably be stupid. I think it will settle down about 4-6 months in.
And no Ford did not create the Mustang to go after the Corvette. |

Well I just recall when I bought my 08 GT back in Oct. 08. I got 10k off the MSRP because we were in the height of the recession and no one could sell any cars. They had a couple of 08 GT500's there 1 black and 1 Red and I thought hey if they are giving me this much off a GT I bet I could get a deal on the GT500. So I asked what I could get off the GT500 and he said not only does NOTHING come off that car but he would not sell it for anything but 10k over sticker. This was OCT 08. The cars had been sitting in the showroom for over 10 months and the dealer couldnt even get any 09's because of all the remaining 08's but still was price gouging on that car. The point is if this car is that exclussive then hardly any dealer is going to sell it for MSRP. Even if the production reaches GT500 numbers they still will be price gouging. Its a shame dealers do this because the likes of Ford, GM, Dodge have no control over what the dealer does and its not like its the mfg's fault or intention that it happens.
