Wink Either a 370z or a camaro

What up peoples? This is my first time on here and of course I'm new to this site. I joined this site and the 370z site as well because i'm looking into buying a brand new car for the first time and i would like some feedback. I had used cars in the past, but I think it's time to get a brand new one. People say it's dumb to pay for a brand new car because I assume it depreciates a lot when it leaves the dealership. But if your going to buy a car like a 370, a camero or anything sporty you know it's been driven really hard. I wanted something that no one else has driven and i would be the first.
I have to admit i'm more into imports (rx7, skylines, the new gtr, supras, now the 370z, and euro rides as well). I do have to admit I never really liked the earlier gen camaro's because they didn't look nice in my opionion. Yea they had the power, but it's not always about the power. I really do like the 2010 camaro's. Even though there still heavy as hell and i'm not the biggest fan of the front grill, overall it's the best looking camaro.

Eww you like imports, get off this site. Haha jk bro, welcome to the forum. Considering this is a Camaro forum, I'm willing to bet you're going to get a resounding "Camaro" as the response to your thread but in the end it all comes down to what you, and not everyone else, wants. We're not going to be the ones driving the car you pick so just carefully weigh all options and make the most informed decision. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Camaro - 3,900 pounds
.110 hp per pound of weight.
.108 ftlbs of tq per pound of weight.

370Z - 3,300 pounds
.106 hp per pound of weight.
.081 ftlbs of tq per pound of weight.

You can clearly see that the Camaro will easily kick the little z's ass, this is not a "drivers race".
Wow that seems way to confusing LOL. I wouldn't say it would kick it's ass but the camo would win.

There is an entire thread comparing the 370Z vs the Camaro.

See here:

Welcome to the site, tvfreakazoid. I think you'll find a lot of information about this decision in here. But consider that the Camaro isn't comparatively heavy. That is, compared to similar cars, like Genesis coupe, it's within a couple hundred pounds. Also, the suspension is phenomenal at hiding that weight.

I think you might want to test drive both of them in a couple months.

I stopped by a nissan dealer this week and saw a 42 grand sticker..

I was like who the hell is going to pay 42 for this little car..?

But for those that do ...More power to them...

Camaro would be the much better way to go...IMO

Thanks. I'm not planning on buying the 1st gen, i'm going to wait at least for the 2nd.
Although, 370z should have more TQ. Do you know when the new camaro is going to be released?

I know I saw a sticker price for that amount to. It's whole package deal, auto tranny which cost's more than the M, nav, sport package, the whole nine yards. But I do agree it is expensive for a smaller car. That's the thing I always hated about import cars, there always more expensive than the domestic rides.
But isn't the SS going to be probably over or close to 40K?

For the weight of the 370 your right. I joined the 370 forum and someone took the 370z to a truck weight station, with full tank of gas and it weighed if i can remember about 3340 or 3345. Still I think it's heavy for a 2 seater.

The lightest z you can get has a curb weight of 3,232 pounds

Motortrend - Lateral accel 370z (.99 G's)
Road and Track - Lateral accel 370z (.97 G's)

To compare, Road and Track only managed .93 G's when the tested the C6 Vette (01/08 issue). And .99 G's in the Z06 Vette (05/08 issue)

The 370z (Touring) runs 275/35/19 series tires out back and the car only weighs 3350 lbs. That along with its excellent balance makes for a great handling car.

The SS will have an advantage in a straight line, but the 370z will definately have an advantage on a tight road course or in the twisties. But the SS will dominate the 370z when it comes to straight line top end speed.
I think youre underestimating the SS's performance. It's going to turn! Niether one of these(the SS or the base) cars have hit the streets in the publics hands. With that being said why don't you hold reservations until we can all actually drive and feel one ourselves. But if the ring would put any indication of what this SS will do, I would not bet against it! Bench testing will never be like the real deal!
