I Need a Real Warranty Answer!

Does Longtube Headers void warranty?
or Does the Longtube Headers "required" tune void the warranty?
or does the longtube headers even really need the tune to begin with?

and replace (Longtube Headers) with (HighFlow Cats) for my next question.

I need to know

and my last question..
Stainless Works.. SLP.. or Solo MachX ??

It's really up to the dealer you rely on to do service work.

No part can void a warranty until something breaks that was caused by that part. If a piston ring goes in your engine, for example...the dealer would have to connect that failure to the headers. Or they could choose to cover it.

So say I bought my Camaro from DealerA and DealerA are uptight and will void the warranty if I put a sticker on the window, can I go to DealerB thats never even seen me before do this or does it have to be the particular exact DealerA that I got the car from?

You can go to ANY Chevrolet dealer you want for warranty service. So...I guess if you're worried about warranty, you'll need to check around and ask dealers a through z if they'll honor the warranty with headers (or whatever mod you've got).

As a dealership employee I have never seen a warrany not honored because of an exhaust mod or header. The tune on the other hand can change many things on the car that goes beyond o2 sensor placement and such so that can be a little more touchy. I will be installing kooks long tubes and high flows this winter with a tune. I am not too worried as i dont plan on beating on my car. You do not have to tune for the headers and such but your check engine light will come on because your readings from your o2 sensors will change.

The LTs will not void your warranty. In order for a warranty repair to be denied do to the presence of an aftermarket part they have to be able to directly link the part to the cause of the issue in question.

Without a tune you will get a CEL, either immediately or eventually. You will also be leaving a large amount of power on the table. A performance tune will void your drive train warranty because you have altered the operational settings of the engine.

Cutting corners when modifying cars will lead to warranty issues being more likely.

Here is some info on how to select headers.

Is there a chance you could get hit by an asteroid on the way to work? Could someone total your car while it is parked in a parking lot. Both are VERY unlikely to happen, however still possible. Same thing with mods and warranty work. Yes, there is a chance your dealer could be a ***hole and refuse work..however the odds are very slim for just bolt ons. At least if you mod while your under warranty, there is a chance they will fix it. Wait till the warranty is over, and there is no chance.

I'm not sure how the SLP thing works with dealers. The factory warranty may or may be voided and substituted for an SLP warranty.

A local dealer had about 10 supercharged SLP cars on the lot...never asked about the warranty, though.

SLP told me themselves that any header including there own will void the warranty... i made this clear for myself as i wanted every part to be warranty legal and they told me that headers are not.

i just went thru this battle with subaru over a downpipe,, NO cat or Smaller cat = big money out of my pocket for any damages thereafter

none of the SLP cars at the dealers have headers,,

go on slps website it says right on it that headers are for offroad use only. headers, stg2 and 3 blower packages, cam packages are the only parts by slp that arent GM warranty friendly...

if only you knew what i just went through at subaru for "bolt ons" 6000 dollars later for a new shortblock, heads, and a giant headache. all for a problem that was happening to 80% of stock cars as well!!
