Richmond 4.10 gears in the rear

Between all the members out there who have either changed to new 4.10 Richmond's with success or with failure. Has there been failures in the last 2 months?

I want to see if I get a replacement set would I suffer the same fate or do you think the issue was corrected by Richmond with newer units.

Please give me your thoughts... Reading all the Blogs I have found 17 cases on the board from different members who state failures, ( myself included ) but they all had there issues around July of 2010, +/- ( same time i bought mine )

I spoke with the Richmond customer svc rep at the PRI show last month.He said those gears were not supposed to be raced or beat on. He also told me they have a new special hardend 410 gear for street and strip usage.I called him yesterday and he said all testing went OK and they would be out in the next week or two.Just thought you all would like to know this if you did not already.

Hard to understand how a manufacture can call them "Hi-Performance" and not use them hard or at the track, I am planning on calling them tomorrow,

It's looking like the gears were manufactures back before august and it just took time for me to get them installed... around the same time as all the other reported failures

Why else would anyone swap to 4.10 gears unless it was to race or beat on them? Sounds like a cop out.

I agree. I think they got taken caught with their pants down with regards to the deflection in the stock rear end. That being said, with the new set up they seem to be doing fine.

I Spoke to tech support at richmond yesterday, stated that they have discovered alot of flex and play in the housing and when they first put out the spec's they did not take into concerdition the play.

they are now having the unit set at a different depth and offset and appears to have corrected most of the issue..

he also stated that with only 1 quart of oil, there's a lot of back splash and the heat is not being disapated quickly enought allowing the housing to get hotter then expected.

Hot housing allows for softer metal...

mine are being returned this week due to failure(note i bought mine back in july, never got around to installing them until 2 weeks ago)
