WANTED : KOOKS 1 7/8 LT's

hey, im looking into getting some kooks LT's 1 7/8. Ive read enough and decided that its better to get the 7/8 instead of 3/4. Im currently running on a corsa exhaust.

The question i have is will it fit perfectly with the corsa exhaust ? if you can give me any more info it would be helpful.

Have you considered the Kooks 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 stepped headers? They are called Kooks Signature Series and they are going to be sweet. Maryland Speed posting something about the stepped headers gaining like 8-10 HP/TQ under the curve, which should be a noticeable difference in power. Maryland Speed is the place to go for all things KOOKS for sure.

hmm, stepped headers? Haven't heard of this series...how much are those running for?

EDIT: nevermind, found the link....it seems to be a good buy if you run open headers/off road, but is not worth the money if you run a SC or have cats

Cats have nothing to do with it. The gains I posted were through cats. We will be testing them on an SC motor soon enough

don't shoot the messenger....I absolutely agree there is an increase, maryland and others have proven it. But I will not be running open or SC...so gains of 5-10 don't seem worth it too me. That is all I am saying. Like I said, I trust maryland as a supplier and an unbias test to prove much higher gains with then I would reconsider...but I am strapped on cash as it is, so I am just happy to soon get my hands on a set of kooks LTs, period. lol

Guys, The advantage of stepped headers are affected dramatically by the balance of the exhaust system. Stepped headers will work best on open header applications.

The reality is that with cats and about 20ft of pipe afterwards the rewards of stepped headers will be neglegible at best. If you plan on racing your car and will be running with open headers when doing so, then call me and we'll build you a step header that's made to work perfectly with your combination of mods. We can even build triple step headers and adjust the primary lengths to suit.

I think everyone will have their opinion. However in other markets, the stepped headers have always performed a little better than a standard headers. The 1 7/8" headers most run on these cars are a slightly big for stock to bolt on applications. They work fine..but the stepped headers are a great middle ground. The smaller 1 3/4" primary compresses the exhaust gas more, which creates exhaust velocity, then the 1 7/8" header allows more total exhaust gas in teh header than a 1 straight 1 3/4" header. Since the stepped design we use is only 1 3/4" for like a 3rd the length of the primary, and 1 7/8" the rest, they can support high HP applications like supercharging where a standard 1 3/4" header would not work. Are the gains worth the money? That is up to the customer..however for someone who wants the best header money can buy, the Kooks Signature Series Stepped header will be it.
