Direct injection uses an extremely high pressure fuel pump after the conventional in-tank pump, before the fuel rails. They're hitting the ceiling of the HPFP which sees fuel pressures of above 1,700psi. HPFPs are typically application specific. It takes a while and a pretty penny to upgrade them in most cases, so there has to be a good market for them. It took quite a while for the audi/vw guys to see aftermarket availability and they're $400 a pop for a kit that simply upgrades the stock one with a larger piston and cylinder assembly.

looking at it in a business point of view, i wont even bother buying a v6 camaro and trying to sell a turbo or TT for it. (if i was the shop)

lets say you buy a ls, for 20-22k. now you have to make the parts and get the man hours into this turbo. you are already dow thousands of dollars. and lets be honestly how many Turbo v6 camaros are out there. what kind of demand is there ? not really much. i am willing to bet right here right now. they will never finish that product. and now GM has a new LFX engine. lol cant even put headers on that engine.... bad business move to sell major V6 parts IMO.

intakes and exhaust. sure. but 7k-10 turbos. no way

Not necessarily true. I almost pulled the trigger on a 2010 370Z with less than 15k miles on it for 25K.

As for the OP. The Z is an incredible car dude. Light, agile, great power out of that V6. I believe a really good mix of weight, and power.

I suppose depends on where you live. Here in the bay I see a lot of 370s all over the place and not many domestics. People here tend to get imports much more than domestic cars. I'm willing to be it's 10 to 1 ratio here. Not sure why.

Take what best fits you. Sometimes you just need to drive both, learn both, and if you cant decide then, go with your gut on which one you want. At the end of the day you really want to sit back and say wow, thats my car (in a good way of course)

Here its the opposite. You'll see 10 to 1 in favor of the 5th gen. Coming back from the hospital (after surgery) I saw a new Camaro about every minute. I was shocked by the number of 5th gens I saw.

But I still wouldn't get a 370z.
I'd rather have a G8 or GTO, Challenger etc. Those suit my needs a little more. I like turbo cars (from the factory) or V8 muscle.
I'm not big on V6 (non turbo) cars.

ya that cally for you. in my area you see way more American cars over imports. not just talking about performance cars either.

You really can't compare the 370z with our camaro v6. yhea they are both v6 but that VQ engine is something else. One of my close friend is a Z fanatic and has the new 370z pushing close to 400 to the rear. Can't comapre to our V6 LLT. Powertrain wise or in the handling dept. Close but Z has alot better support and is track proven.

Let me first say I am a die hard Camaro fan. And was intent on buying an SS for over a year. I've probably spent a combined 500+ hours of just reading on this forum. My wife went out and purchased a car while I am here in Afghanistan last month. They gave her 1.9% on a 613 credit score because I'm military. So I did a bit of research and saw that they offer the Z for 1500 below invoice for military, but no finance deals. I went home on leave and was impressed by the Maxima's poise for a larger 4 door vehicle. The lines were sporty, the standard equipment was stellar, and has plenty of room for any future offspring that may pop up. I went with her to the dealership so she can knock out some last minute paperwork stuff (greenslip etc) and decided that I would test drive (again) a 370Z. The salesman obviously wants to sell a car, especially to me (they know we have deployment cash). First thing he does is looks at me and says, we need press this button right here if your going to have any fun with the car (Traction control / Stability Control). He hands over the drivers seat and off I go. The car is fast, nothing slow about it. It's not quite as fast as an SS, but it definitely can get up and move. The handling is worlds above the SS. I am not exaggerating this, granted it does ride firmer. I can feel everything through the steering wheel, the shifter, I can feel the tires as I am pushing it. Much more neutral, and less understeer than the SS. The shifter felt very tight with no play and had a very positive engagement. The clutch took a bit getting used to because the engagement is very fast. The synchro revmatch feature is one of the best things I've ever seen come on a car from the factory. It auto blips the throttle on downshifts for perfect engagements every time without doing the heel toe maneuver. It made me feel like Johnny Bada$$. The brakes, Oh the brakes... I thought I was in an ejection seat and about to get thrown out the front window. It surprised me because it has this two step pedal feel. It comes off light with very little brake action, then when I stomp the brakes, it's completely different. The interior fit and finish is top notch. Very tight seams, aesthetically pleasing, and everything is soft to the touch. I came away very impressed with the car, but not wanting to buy anything till after I return permanently. Car was a black base model 6MT with the sport package. It ran about $36000. Sport package includes 14in 4 piston vented fronts and 13.8 2 piston rear Akibono brakes, LSD, 19x9 Front, and 19x10 meats, and the synchro rev match feature. A must for anyone with a pair looking on buying this car. I decided to see what numbers looked like with the intent on waiting on my purchase. The salesman was working hard to make it happen. I wanted more money down besides my Bimmer trade, he convinced me to just save it up while out here and drop it on the loan. The car was too much for my budget, they dropped it even more. I wanted more for my trade, they gave me more (they didn't even look at it). Then I told them I didn't want to buy till January, end of story. He came back and told me the dealership is willing to pay my car payment until February if I buy this damn car. I had nothing else to argue against. I bout the car with gap and extended warranty (roughly $2,000 extra) for $33,400. Now that I have the car, there are only three complaints that are well documented and an easy fix... Needs an oil cooler ($500), stainless steel lines, Dot4 brake fluid, and better pads for the brakes ($500ish). And the exhaust doesn't sound good at all over 5000 rpm. Fix for that is of course an aftermarket exhaust. LTH, Ypipe with cat, and catback will cost a few grand of course, but who doesn't do this when they buy a sports car? I'm happy with my purchase and love the design. The term "Rice" to term the car is pretty ignorant imo and unwarranted. It doesn't sound like a chainsaw, kids can't afford it, it came fast out the box, and just because it came from somewhere other than the US or EU does not instantly coin it "Ricer". I still love Camaro's and will probably get one later down the road. These cars have so little in common, the only similarity is price and performance that really trade blows. BTW, I still read this forum every day :P

I agree with pretty much what Firehawk states. The Z is a very nice competent machine. I loved mine. Only problem I had is that Nissan customer service was horrendous. So bad I actually just wanted to get rid of it after only a year and did. Mine had electrical issues. As far as mechanical and driveability, it was agreat little car. Handled like it was on rails and I actually liked the exhaust note..
