increased length is more tha likely the reason for improved torque profile. the heat reduction of the air charge is going to help you maintain (probably even gain) hp.

Exactly.. That's why I think that mace's 25mm insulator (1inch) will yield much better results then tracy's 3/8 inch.

And Tracy's full plate may conduct more heat to the IM.

Of course I might be thinking that cause I just ordered a Mace 25mm (Merry Christmas to me!!!)

I'm sure the last word on this will be some time to come.

OP please keep us posted on any "post-tune" results and thanks again.

just a thought, has anyone tried to contact Steve at Vararam & see what they think the options would be with moding the intake to fit with the 25mm insulator? might be worth a shot to get his opinion

for sure! you won't be disappointed, its a seat of the pants difference. im back on E85 and getting the ECU settled in. hope to have it on the dyno after the first of the year. then i'll make the switch back to 93 octane and have vince take a look at it, unless you get to it before me

not difficult at all. just takes a little patience and attention to detail when assembling.

The runner length play a vital role in creating a torquey power band in the low to mid rpm. Some cars come with variable intake manifold that has a short and long side where a valve will open and close according to the rpm in maximizing low and high end power. Too long of a runner and you can kill the top end, too short and you can kill the lows. I think we can go even higher before worrying about the top end but 25mm seem to be the highest we can go within the stock enviroment. This mod can definitely be considered a bang for the buck poster child.

Dumb question. But what is the role of the insulators? Decrease the air temp so thus it increases the hp? I'm i even close? lol.

Kinda close... The majority of the TQ and HP bump comes from the increased runner length. Longer length makes more TQ at lower rpms. The heat isolation factor is a small portion of the hp bump.

This is a great mod. Good TQ increase throughout the normal driving rpm range. The car will feel like its much lighter. What I don't like is the sudden drop off past 6300rpm. I wonder if Trifecta can tune that away.
