^except for the $78,150 as tested price and the over 1,000lb weight difference.. Sure, that's a fair comparison when thinking of terms of "what a waste" /s

The Cayman R is a two seat sports car that weighs about 2,900 pounds, and has a base MSRP of just under $70,000.00. Also, from the testing I've seen thus far, a 12.6 1/4 mile time for the ZL1 appears to be an outlier.

Over-hyped, huh?... After all the hooplah about the BOSS, now, some are so easy to disregard ZL1 after it's gone faster in the tests released so far.
That's fine by me. I don't need anyone else to justify ZL1 to me. The numbers bare out the facts. Considering everything a car manufacturer has to go through to validate a car and offer a BETTER warranty - I guess I shouldn't be impressed with Team CAMARO's hard work...

GM makes a straight line brawler...called the COPO. Designed purely for straight line performance and ET...if that is your cup of tea - go get one (Dodge and Ford both offer factory racers as well) If you want a well rounded DRIVER'S Car then the ZL1 is what GM is offering. I prefer to enjoy the driving experience, so the ZL1 would be on my list if I were shopping. I don't fit in the Mustang comfortably.

Not for 54k. This car is just my cup of tea! A little quicker or a little lighter would be nice but my main purposes for this car is time trials and road coursing. And for what I need/want this car for, this big hipped beauty passed with flying colors!

And for what it's worth, I think GM hit a home run with this car. For 54k I can either go do a drag track, or a road course, and be very competitive. Then when I'm done, put the car in street mode, turn on the ac, and cruise home and ready to drive to work the next day. Personally, in this pricing segment of the market, I don't think you will find a better all around car that is good at everything.

One thing that still bugs me when I read it is still the crap comments about visibility out of the car. It seems to me that if you want a car with good visibility, it looks boring, like say, a Mustang. It really has no character to me. I mean - it's no Prius, by any stretch, but that comment just turns me off of a reviewer just for saying that. Either you want a boring car with huge, straight-up windows or you want some actual cool bodylines and good looks; you don't often find both, IMO. I can't think of many cars that pull that combination off.
