I don't think we have to worry.

I'll just throw this out there to torture us more, Ive asserted that the car would get a HVV6(pushrod) in a 3.5L size, a HFV6(DOHC) in 3.6L and a GenIV 6.o or 6.2 v8. I would still bet money on the 6.2L being the V8 avail @ launch as its only a year away now and no new v8's (besides the LS9 for the ZR1 and the LFA for the hybrid SUV's) have been validated as far as I know. But keep in mind that the L76(6.0 from G8) is produced in a VVT version, and its still called L76(its used in trucks) and VVT works really with a supercharger
The LS9 for the ZR1 is going to have over 600hp(expect 620 as it trumps ALL of the real competitors, and would make a nice round 100hp/L) but I have seen a few dyno run reports of LS9's putting out only 575-80hp. What is this engine for???(besides the CTS-v, Ive never liked the magazine reports of an "LSA" engine, its too close to "LFA" which is the truck hybrid 6.0L v8) Spark Ignition Direct Injection, SIDI, the true name for whats getting called gasoline direct injection, is one of GM's chosen technologies, expect to see it proliferate throughout the entire catalog regardless of cost(naturally aspirated 2.0L SIDI 4 cylinder with over 150hp should be powering the base Cobalt when the Camaro comes out) the GenV is SIDI equipped, the HFV6's are SIDI equipped, the ECOTEC's are getting it, the only engine family that will be around in 2010 model year that I havent seen a SIDI version of yet is the LZ engines(60degree V6's or High Value v6, the pushrod 3.5 and 3.9) and its because of this fact that I would NOT expect to see a 3.5 or 3.9 under the hood of the Camaro., its just not capable(imo) of meeting the newer standards, want some "proof"? Look only as far as the Malibu(midsize Chevys are what the 60deg V6 was invented for), no pushrods anywhere to be seen, just the 2.4L LE5 ECOTEC and the 3.6L V6. hmmm. And if you can find any of GM's releases regarding the 3.5L theyll tell you that its virtually all new and now shares over 3/4's of its parts with the 3.9L, what they dont tell you is that the reason it shares so many parts is that its now just a destroked 3.9L! it used to be its own engine, it had a unique bore, a completely different block, different cooling system, cylinder heads, etc.... now there is only one block, pistons, heads, etc, the only real difference is the crank. I dont think that is a good sign for the longevity of of this engine family(which is third oldest in use behind the the 3800 and 4.3L v6 truck engine) I would expect to see a standard EFI 3.6L or the possibly forthcoming 3.0L SIDI as the base engine and an over 300hp SIDI 3.6L as the second six. expensive or not this is GM's most popular engine family and is used by EVERY division save for Hummer(who should use it instead of the shitty 3700 I5) and it is currently used in no less than 12 different model lines in the USA alone, the most prolific use of any engine in General Motors history.(IIRC)

my personal opinion of v-8 engine, might be a 6.0l or 6.2 di gen v for the 2010 camaro. massive power for the technology. glad gm isn't saying the true #'s. bet to say it will have 400whp or more at the pavement, for the top model. having more hp in store later if needed. leaves ford and dodge , what did you just do to us? lol gen v engines there for the reepings!!!!!! hope new camaro get an optional m6 for top model.

It could just be the key to winning, though. a 30+mpg, 400hp car will likely attract a LOT of attention.

As far as the gas prices go, this page I found is very interesting. http://www.fintrend.com/inflation/im...tion_chart.htm
Basically, what it shows is that back in '69 durring the height of the original muscle car war, gasoline cost the equivalent of $2.00/gal. considering that modern muscle is getting at least two times (in some cases up to 4x) better mileage it is now just as cheap to fuel a new Mustang GT or Charger R/T in real economic terms as it did back then.

Nothing would make my day more than to find out they are going to put the LS3 into a Camaro I can afford. I would drop as many option as I can just to get that motor.
