It takes a minimum of 5 hours to get out of Texas from San Antonio, so everyone here moaning about how it's "too far of a drive for me" needs to simmer down.

According to Google Maps:

San Antonio to Louisiana State Line on I-10: 5 hours, 16 minutes
San Antonio to Texarkana on I-35/I-30: 7 hours, 26 minutes
San Antonio to El Paso on I-10: 8 hours even

So, yeah, no sympathy will be coming from the SA folks for anyone. I think the only people who have a legitimate argument are the folks from Canada, and they are some serious troopers to make it to these fests every year.

I'm always looking for an excuse to go to San Antonio! Gotto load up on brisket from HEB!

And visit every steakhouse I can find. Haven't been to Fridays in about 2 years either.

Personally, I think we need an East coast and a West coast fest..

I don't like driving more hours than the event lasts to get there...

So far we've got 2 east side locations (GA, IN) and one West (AZ).

"None of the above" better take it by a landslide.

Not gonna happen. There is no way we can manage two fests a year.

2) Texas... is way over due... great vendors, great tracks, great attendance at all fests so far.

3) St Louis - have not been, but thinking that's a winner too..
Not cool what you did Mike... Not cool....

I know California has a big draw of Camaros, but how many are you going to pull from every other state on the west side of the country?

None of the above works for me..

Have it in Texas.. Too far away for for me.

Hell... so I indiana at 1300 miles and that is the closest a fest has been to me.

OH!!! Just had a brilliant idea! (aside from Texas, which is my personal fav for c5f4)

how bout out on the salt flats in Utah?

Benefits -
  • Make your own 1/4 mile, auto-X, road(salt) course!
  • Have a 1 mile top speed challenge
  • Have a max your camaro event (5 mile stretch)
  • autocross on salt = better have skill!
  • unlimited room for vendors/setup
  • have your camaro on the famous salt flats!

downsides
  • would have to locate, rent, ect all of the timing equipment for 1/4 ect
  • hotels close? or just camp on the salt?
  • insurance and event coordination with Utah?
  • not much else to do...
