Looking to buy an AR15

Looking to buy my first AR either before or for Christmas don't really know to much about them but don't want to buy garbage. I'm looking to keep just the gun under 1500 or right around there, and obviously would be able to buy additional products after. Tried posting this on my local gun forum but got no answer so hopefully one of my fellow c5 members will be a bit more helpful. I hear a lot about bravo company but don't know the best way to go about ordering a gun from them or around how long it would take to recieve. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I have a colt 6920. Think I got it for about 1200 after registration taxes and all. I bought a free floating rail for 250 and some flip up sights and a red/green dot scope for 180. I have shot it quite a bit and love the gun. There are a lot of good companies who make AR15's but I would go with either a colt or a bravo company since they do the most testing on their guns. You could build one for pretty cheap as well and have money left over to do mods. It all comes down to what you want and what you are going to use it for.

This is the before pic.

Bravo Company makes good stuff. I used one of their uppers in my last AR build. You are getting into a pretty deep topic but head over to AR15.com. It is a gold mine of information.

Agreed, there is alot of information there, but I find the site a pain to navigate sometimes. I wish they would go to our style of site, but it may be that I am just used to this site.

I bought me a nice fully loaded RRA Elite Operator 2 w/ the removable A2 sight for $1K.

Not a bad rig for the price IMHO. Post pics when you get your AR15!

Thanks for all the help guys after some reading I'm really liking the colt le6920 never really looked into colt because I figured the well known name would be just thrown out there and mass produced for a profit but turns out people are saying they actually are pretty good guns.

Colts are good guns. Like I said IMHO I would go with BCM or Colt, there are other guns I would like to buy besides these two but the others are not in your price range. Those are two companies that do a whole bunch of testing on their guns. Colt only has a one year warranty where as BCM is a lifetime warranty. I would have gotten a BCM but could not find one. I actually had a hard time finding my Colt. Look online if you want and have it shipped to your local FFL if they don't have it or can't get it.....here is a good chart for you to check out

https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?...=5&output=html

Here is another good chart

http://www.03designgroup.com/reviews...ower-receivers

I went with the colt because I wasn't worried about a warrant since I knew I was going to mod it to the point that it would most likely void it anyhow.

Thanks! I've got entirely too much money wrapped up in that thing but it rocks and rocks.

Check out the ar's from Henderson defense. Very bad ass, and the uppers and lowers are forged locally in town
