I do as much of my own mods and maintenance as I can (I am neither a mechanic nor a body shop guy).
My list includes: painted engine cover; painted taillight bezels; painted bowties; painted front and rear LS7-style blackouts and center hood stripe(prepping, cleaning, masking off, wet sanding, and polishing, minus the actual spraying); lowering springs; rear spoiler install (including drilling the holes in the trunk); grill lighting install; HID light install (have since been removed); CAI install; and axle-back exhaust install. |

I've done my fair share of wrenching but being a senior guy my eye sight isn't what used to be. Plus, I don't mind paying young guys to work on my car to help them out. I've got a 70 yr old friend with a 8.5 sec Gn that sure the heck needs to quit working on his own car and get some sharp youngsters to do it! And drive it!

The only mod that i haven't installed were the stripes at that gone done before i took delivery other than that all has been done at my house including oil changes. Granted the stuff i did almost anybody can do it gives you a sense of accomplishment when you complete your own mods. Makes the car seem more your own.

Rember my dumb a$$ mistake << LOL >>
Two reasons I don't work on my own Cars! 1.) If something can go wrong it will. 2.) I have no idea what I'm doing. I got a black rear spoiler to go on my car for a little different LOOK! So i think how hard can it be to put it on :( Well I got all the bolts off and the Spoiler comes off nicely and there is this wire, goes into the trunk lid. I think must be for a lighted Spoiler 3rd brake light? I'll never need that so I just snipped it. :( F&*&^K < It's the freaking antena for the damn radio :( ![]() GRRRR HENCE SKIPPY will never again pickup a tool and go near my or any car again" EVER". << Now I got to go to the dealers and look like a dumb a** and tell them what I did. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() :mad0 259:![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() O well such is LIFE ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I WAS ABLE TO SPLICE IT! I got TUNES again YEAAA < Harness I cut was $485.oo to replace <<< Ouch <<< __________________ |

Two days ago I installed my ZL1 Side Rockers, Front Fender Vents, and Front Chin Splitter. The vents were by far the scariest install I have done as it required me taking my dremel to the fenders. I could have paid someone to do it but by me doing the work myself, it gives me a since of pride and self gratification knowing I did the work myself.

changed my own oil, and installed my catch can with help from two of my fellow camaro brothers. Small job for the kid, but I felt a sense of pride.

Did all the work on my TA:
Intake, Cam, valve train upgrades, induction, long tubes with electric cutouts, clutch/flywheel, slave cylinder, shocks/struts, coil over conversion, full audio system (sub/amp, deck), camaro guages/HVAC and headlight switches, subframes, lower control arms with relocation brackets, adjustable panhard bar, torque arm FIKSE Mach Vs …ETC… I now there's more but thats all I can think of off hand. On the SS I installed my long tubes, xpipe, 4pack, LED halos.. As for the body work Having a local shop (friend of the family) install and paint all… Been in the shop almost everyday the car has but leaving the paint work to the pro LOL
