I'm confused...besides the actual way it works (i.e. Computer controlled, or manual valve body)...what's the difference? I just find it difficult to believe GM wouldn't build the A6 to withstand any "wear and tear"

the shifting points and line pressure and whatnot are computer controlled with the 4l60e. meaning that if you put it in 1st (most) will stay in first till you put it into 2nd. at which point you will have a slight delay because from the time you put it into 2nd, the computer then realizes that it can go to the next gear, then allows the tranny to shift.
tho some transmissions will still upshift if you take it to redline if you dont reprogram it.

as for a manual valve body. whatever gear you select is what gear it is in. so if you put it in to D (3rd) you will take off in that gear. it wont start in first then go to second then to 3rd, it will be in 3rd from the get-go. so you would have to run thru the gears while you drive.

now as far as gm building subpar drivetrain components. look at the 10 bolt rear on the 4th gen camaros. with street tires they are fine, but throw some slicks on there and be prepared to break something.

It sure makes my truck more responsive and better in congested traffic.
