O.k. Guys this two wheel mayhem who comments on this subject and the other 2012 whiners are just that............whining because they want ot bash the SS having the exhaust option they really wish they could have because I know havbing owned a 2011 the exhaust change to the sound is awesome....ANd oh yes these duche bags do not account for it being able to also hook up to headers etc and not have to throw out the rest of the exhaust........ITS ON THE ZL1 FOR A REASON!!!!!!!!!!!!
SO dumbo says its a exhaust leak whatever...........SO i guess when he gets better flowing exhaust we can call it a exhaust leak also.........The guy at my work with a 2012 borla exhaust and catbacks wishes he had my exhaust........NUFF SAID>

The NPP is a very potent system. Even the stock system is a good one, its just too heavy. An aftermarket catback is not know to give a lot of hp. The stock cats are the culprit, with the headers (compared to longtube). The NPP is the beat deal available IMO.

I will tell you that "awesome sound" is about as far down my automotive priority list as things get and still be on the list at all. No way am I going to spend $900 for "managed sound" (aka managed internal leak), no matter how strongly you feel that everybody should jump at the chance to have it. Even if you were going to pay the $900 for NPP for me, I doubt I'd opt for it. Name-calling isn't helping your case, and dragging your co-worker's opinion into this discussion carries no more weight than me telling you that for $900 with only a bare handful of HP at stake I wouldn't give a rat's ass what the less expensive OE exhaust sounded like. Never would have, no matter how far back you went (adjusting the $ downward against inflation, of course). Norm |

Seems to me that it's pretty expensive for some sound and maybe a couple hp. I would spend my 900 bucks elsewhere.

I have never owned a V8 car with stock catback until my ZL1. NPP is a great option for those that DD their car. I had a MBRP catback on my SS and it sounded amazing. Deeper and louder than my NPP but it was always loud. As a DD it pretty much killed using bluetooth for calls and long trips were annoying. I feel NPP is the best exhaust for most people. I cannot tell you how many people comment on the sound. I had a service guy at a dealership swear the exhaust was modded. But when the valves close it become quiet which allows me to use my bluetooth and talk with people in the car without yelling. Active exhaust gives an owner a best of both worlds setup that no non-active catback can replicate.
![]() It is pretty rare as I do not see it on many "lot" cars. I am very curious to hear it on a V6...

I can't believe I read the whole thing.
I am now thinking about getting rid of my gimmicky power windows and seats as they add nothing to performance... I think sometimes we forget that unless we are talking about the base Camaro NOTHING is practical about these cars. 895 for a "factory performance exhaust" that is very mod friendly and refined enough to have NO DRONE at highway speeds. Yeah I wouldn't get one of these gimmicky things. |

To put it in a different perspective, I don't think I've spent a total of $895 on mufflers, piping, and elbows for all of the cars I've ever owned, which covers about 45 years worth at this point. Only the newest two haven't been touched yet. From here, the NPP is way, way, WAY overpriced. Like more than a whole order of magnitude.
But at least you get a tiny power improvement out of it, unlike the sound tubes that pipe induction roar directly into the cabin *cough* Ford and Nissan *cough* which give you nothing but the noise. Norm |

Sorry Norm, once again we will have to agree to disagree ... If you compare the NPP option to any after market system, it is more that worth the $895. Most of the name brand systems are going for $800 - $1000 easy. And this system comes with full warranty and ties into and is controlled by the ECM. I understand you aren't into exhaust systems, but for those that are it's an awesome system.
