Sho' enuf!
Well, it's Husqvarna orange, but close enough.
I had to, because sadly enough, it's currently the only orange ride left in my life.

She's still in bed. Sleeping is her most favorite hobby. Her car will never hit a track, she loves it too much to push it like that.
I'll drag the mower over, and put the rowdy Fit owner in his place. Its 28hp should do it.......

That's a hoot. Should have taken Mickey's Camaro while she was sleeping and joined the rest of the gang for a great day! You could have made up some story, right?

Except for Eric, who already had his schooling behind him, we attended the novice school at the autocross, while Eric played with the big boys on the advanced course.

Craig, our lead instructor, taught us about the finer points of autocross racing, gave us valuable tips and then took us on a walking tour of the novice course.

After that we were divided into two groups. The first group was dispersed onto the course to pick up cones knocked down by us beginners.

Each person in the other group was assigned an instructor. Mine was David. He rode with me and directed me through the course; giving me lots of advice and pointers; the main thing (and I couldn't seem to get it into my head) was to hold my hands at 9 & 3 on the wheel and keep my right hand off the gearshift unless I was shifting.

Each time we went through the course, I was a little faster. Then David asked if he could drive my car with me in the passenger seat and he'd show me some things he had been talking about.

MAN OH MAN!!! I had no idea my car would do the things he made it do!!!! He took off like a bat out of Hades and headed for the first cone. I was sure he was going to run over it but at the last 1/1000th of a second he jerked the wheel and went around it.

He went through a slalom section so fast I was holding on for dear life. I was glad my seat is leather…much easier to clean than cloth!!!

He took off in a straightaway and headed towards a large trailer. I didn't think there was any way he could brake and make the hairpin turn ahead, but he did.

I was sure he was going to wreck my car, but all he did was wreak my nerves. Certainly that lesson gave me much more confidence in what my car can do and what I can do with it. I'm sure the experience will give me increased confidence on the road should I need to make a high speed evasive maneuver.

Then David asked me a silly question. He asked if I wanted to ride the course with him in his shinny new $125K Porsche. You bet I did and that ride alone was worth much more than the price of admission.

I couldn't imagine a car going through the course faster than David took my Camaro through, but I WAS VERY WRONG. I don’t' think I can adequately explain the most exciting car ride I've ever had!!! I was certain we would crash, but David is a pro and he did things with that car I didn't think were possible.

The other club members related very similar experiences with their instructors and all were very, very impressed!

After lunch (included in the price), we were allowed to return to the novice course and run as many times as we wished. That was also a blast and each time I went through, I was a little faster…not even close to the speed David and the other instructors go through the course, but fast in my book. I even impressed my son a little too when he rode with me! I also rode with Robert in his Honda Fit and I've got to say that little car flat moves around the course! Robert is now an impressive autocross driver and of course I think he found a new hobby.

By far Jim spun his tires more than anyone and when he was on the course you could always pick him out by the cloud of smoke.

Then we were able to run twice on the advanced course with the big boys and that was great experience too. We could have run more, but the clouds opened up and we all headed for home a little after two.

I'm not saying who had the fastest time…but it wasn't me (good thing I didn't make any bets).

Everyone that went said we really need to autocross again and hopefully club members that stayed at home won't miss another opportunity like the one we were treated to.

Steve, I promise if you had sneaked Mickey's car out of the garage yesterday morning, she would never have known, except she might have been suspicious of the big grin on your face when you got home!

Now that looks like a blast. I'm sorry I couldn't attend, but it looks like a good thing I didn't. That would lead to yet another expensive addiction, which is why I'm currently where I'm at.(he says while staring forlornly at a pile of Camaro suspension upgrade parts that will be put for sale shortly)

Did you perchance run into a gent with name of DJ? He'd be a person in control somewhat of the organization.
