I whole heartedly agree with you Adam. Dealers should be treated like suppliers, not customers. What are they supplying? Service! How is it possible for GM to treat them as customers when they are the face of GM to the consumer? Failure to change this core philosophy will just have the customer (the true customer) shopping elsewhere.

I just want an update....
Is there a M6 on the SS hold due to the tranny problem AND is there a 1SS and 2SS hold in general based on supply issues? There was a post that claims the V8 cars are on hold due to supply issues. I have a TPW of 8/3 but not really sure what that means. Well I know it is target production week but does that also mean that there are parts available to build my car? For instance lets just say there were NEVER going to be any more LS3 engines made... since I have a TPW does that mean the parts for my car would be available but no one could order a V8 now? Just trying to understand the process a bit more. I hope I posed my question correctly. |

What makes you think GM does NOT want to share info. with you? We share more info. on this site in a week than some manufacturers have EVER shared. There are legal reasons why things happen. And lest you forget: GM does NOT own a pocketbook -- the 'pocketbook' used to be our stockholders........that's changed a bit......and now YOU own a piece of that pocketbook. Nothing is ever as simple as it seems. Trust me on this. |

On sharing info. 1) I have heard nothing of the issue with the M6 from GM. 2) My dealer has heard nothing from GM on the issue. 3) I have to look up the info on the internet myself to find it out. So that might be why we the BUYERS, think GM is not telling anything??

I highly doubt that GM is going to place a phone call to everyone. The following release comes direct from a GM representative to us: Quote: Here's our statement on the matter: Our engineering team is reviewing data related to the performance of the manual transmission on the Camaro SS, and have temporarily stopped shipment of this model to the dealers. This only impacts Camaro SS models with manual transmission in production. Camaro SS with automatic transmission, and Camaro LS and LT models are not affected and will continue to be shipped to dealers. Since this is an "in production" review, we are NOT requesting vehicles be returned for any service or dealer deliveries stopped as a result of this action. I for one think GM is on top of this and doing a great job handling the matter. They are still building the ss m6s and putting them in quality assurance hold, that way if there is a mass problem they spend a couple hours on each car replacing the transmission instead of days to build the entire car.JMO |

Getting waaayyyy off topic butttt.....

But as has been explained to me by John, apparently the dealer is the actual customer and even though the consumer's name is on the order with all of their information, the order still "belongs" to the dealer. Therefore, GM really shouldn't be sharing any info about a "dealer's" order with some third party. I find this to be utterly wrong. The customer's name is on that order, it's theirs. It's a "customer sold order". They have every right to know what the status is and not be forced to annoy a middle man. Some dealers don't mind but many others do. Even the helpful dealers on here have said that once a week is more than enough and much more would be considered annoying. Why can't the customer check on their order status or hourly if they have nothing better to do with their time? Quote:
2) Correct. Most dealers couldn't care less about a temporary holdup. The ones that do can read the internet. 3) Yes. I don't see the problem with this. They're trying to give us information directly without playing the telephone game of distortion with dealers! I, as you should as well, applaud them for this. I''ll say this, dealerships handle information differentely. Some do well at customer communications, others do not. This is evident because I know a few on the forums that have some information on this development....and others may not. Our General Manager was made known of this specific development a few days ago - about the time it was posted on the internet.
In any case, GM made a communication. What your dealership did with that information, or what they communicated to their customers will vary. Or if the dealership communicated it to their staff. Not every dealership knows about this site, nor do they focus specifically on the Camaro - so yes, I would expect results on communication to be different. My specific focus here is the Camaro, and the Corvette - so I am kept in the loop, so I can better inform my customers. On the other hand, people are being informed of things almost as fast as they develop. I'm sure things need to be ironed out with cause / solution, and there's more than GM being involved - communications take time, so I surely wouldn't expect a plan in concrete for the world to see in just a few short days. Having a product the best it can be when it gets into your hand is the primary goal of ANY company. |

![]() ![]() I'm looking at it right here, it says "constraint overview", and has all chevy vehicles on it. The MN6 constraint is listed (so this can't be last weeks?)
