I don't care if I break the shroud but what's the easiest way to take it off with out taking everything apart?

You have to pull the coil pack brackets and fuel rails. Then you can pull the rubber strap and pull the bolts out of the manifold. Then use some pliers to loosen the clamp on the brake booster where it connects to the reservoir on the firewall and pull the hose off. It's just a vacuum hose. Be careful when you pull the manifold out. The brake booster hose wraps around the back side of the cam position sensor. You just have to make sure you lift the manifold/hose up and over the sensor without getting hung up. I had mine out and back installed in about an hour. You'll need a GM fuel line release tool. $4 at O'Reillys IIRC.

It's not exactly what you're after, but it does have instructions for removing the manifold in there a ways. It's just simple wrenching. You'll be fine once you get going. Just go slow when you're ready to start pulling the manifold off the top of the engine (or sliding it out the front I should say). The back 2 bolts will want to keep falling back in their holes. A towel under the fuel rail disconnect is a good idea too. It'll spill a little fuel when you separate the lines.

Tighten the bolts from the center out when you reinstall it... being careful not to over tighten. I don't know if that pdf has the torque specs, but it's not much.

Thanks hemp I appreciate that, I know this is gunna be more then an hour job just to take out making sure I do it right but one more question
Lets say when I get the shroud off there's a crack under it, can I fix it? Is there some sort of plastic weld I can use or do I need a new one? |

Busy busy! We did a car show on Saturday. Mowing + family dinner Sunday. Tried to fix my little brother's car + more mowing last night. Fellow local camaro club member catback install tonight. Lots of cars and mowing! Not such a bad deal.

Oh, and Mike... you're taking the whole manifold out if you think you need to. You can pull the shroud if you want (once it's out), but you'll find nothing but a layer of insulation and more plastic underneath.

Yes I understand thank you, I've checked almost everything had a couple friends check also, the only thing we have done to make the hissing/whistling change is move the shroud so that's why I would think something under there is cracked
