Martin at Tick told me personally to save my money and have BER (Bare essential racing port my intake) no need for a FAST even with my stroker build.

How you been BUD we miss you around here! Hows the car?

I dont have enough displacement for a fast. Car is good. Murica means affordable parts when you break it

What exactly is a stroker? Does it have something to do with boring out your cylinder heads and making the larger?

On aluminum LsX motors you cannot bore them out because of the iron sleeves in them. Only the iron Ls motors like the LsX block, the iron 6.0 and iron 5.3's.

So when we stroke them we buy a crank that has a longer stroke making the piston travel down the bore further increasing the volume of air that will be sucked in.

Stock Ls strokes are 3.66 and most strikers are 4.0. But you'll need specific pistons for that too.

An engines displacement is bore (size of cylinder) multiplied by the stroke (the distance the piston travels).

Actually it's pi x the bore radius squared x stroke.

Getting closer. Just ordered from BTR cam retainer plate, ls2 dampner, and comp cam trunion upgrade. I already have lifters, lifter trays, valley cover, and front timing cover. I think all I need left after this in C5R chain, 10296 pump, stall converter, BTR custom grind kit, and my head gaskets kit (which I think comes with water pump gasket and some ARP head bolts). I see a lot of people putting transmission coolers on but I am hoping I can just do this another time. Especially since I don't drag race I figure I will be alright.

Brings me to another question. Im getting a new chain and dampner. Do I need a different timing gear or is stock good to go? I see that BTR custom grind cam is good for a 24x or 58x timing gear. Which one do I have (L99).

Umm yea, diameter of the bore x the stroke. Don't think anybody refers to the size of the bore by it's radius except maybe those import guys

Are you an L99 or LS3? If are an L99 you have 2 ways you can go. Either VVT or LS3 conversion. VVT has shown to make better power over LS3. For my own reasons I am going with the LS3 conversion so I can install a LS3 cam. If you plan on going VVT you need to get with Rhino79.

If you're going to port your intake, i'd HIGHLY recommend calling Rhino to see what he can do for you. He does something that I don't think anyone else is doing. His own intake has it done so i'm sure it's helping.

Volume of a cylinder is not width x height. Radius squared is not the same as diameter.

That's what I get for trying to be a smartass when I'm drunk. at least my spelling was decent .

Anyway here's the formula I use when I'm not drunk. .7854 x ((d)^2) x stroke let's you use diameter instead of radius.
