It cracks me up at the money people spend on mufflers and axle backs and cat backs rather than just deleting the stock mufflers. So many people are installing the NPP exhaust then pulling the fuse and that just makes it a straight through system like the stock with a muffler delete. The exhaust is tuned great from the factory and sounds awesome with an easy <$100 mod.

I have long tubes, NO cats and no mufflers and constantly have people wave at me or pull along side and ask what engine or exhaust I have.

When I bought my car it was the same setup. Too fn loud with drone for days. I wanted to put some stock mufflers on it but couldn't find any local. I just bit the bullet and bought the OBX cat back and now I have even more complements.

Would love too do this to mine...eventually. Two problems stand in my way
1. Brand new car (2 months) and doing all this would void the fresh factory warranty 2. There is nobody in my area (Pensacola and respectable) that does this kind of work and tuning.
So until the time comes along, will keep dreaming about it...

My car right now with the the SLP TVS2300, factory manifolds, high flows and the 3" stainless works Retro Catback is very very loud.

I cant wait until this spring to add the catless Long tube headers to it. Going to be Crazy Loud!!!

We get so many requests about the best way to make the car sound like it should or they desire.

Too many times guys start at the Rear with mufflers or no mufflers or what have you and still aren't satisfied.

A true Muscle car has Long Tube headers with High flow cats, This Wakes up Any Exhaust and gives it that unique V8 Muscle Car Sound regardless of the exhaust.

The Problem comes in when a guy starts with the loudest cat back then adds the Headers and HF cats, then it is Obnoxious too Loud, then we are changing or adding back mufflers to get it back to reasonable levels and or Kill the Rasp or Drone.

So a Word of Advice Start at the Front With a Quality set of LT headers and High flow cats and see how you like it with the stock exhaust then move on from there.

Not only will you gain Sound but you will gain a Real True 28-30 RWHP.

No Cat backs offer Performance alone.

I hope you find this information Helpful in your quest for a Cool sounding Muscle Car.

Ted.

Good advice, but even if I had heard this before, I probably would not have done it this way due to the warranty fear spread on this site. I guess I'm just weak. Of course I am now over the warranty jazz. Even still, for my needs, I'm happy with my set up (for now).

For any other folks new to this stuff though, I would strongly consider Teds words.

Oh, do I detect a bit of sarcasm in this last line?

Corsa + Headers is Loud but no drone, I wouldn't buy any other catback other than corsa. I've sat in and ridden in a bunch with Kooks to JBAs and they all droned (catback). Unfortunately the local PD in my town didn't appreciate my car nor the exhaust. Also the people in my neighborhood would call and file noise complaints when I leave early or come back late.

Also think a lot of people sleep on the Dynatech headers, had them on my last car and they were great.

definitely loud, and not the sound I am looking for...I like my neighbors.
but to each their own.
