The amount isn't like an oil change you know? That I'd take to a service station. But the catch can oil? Soak it in a paper towel and then trash the towel normally....

Thanks. I never really knew what a catch can was until joining here so thanks for being gentle and not calling out my ignorance.

The reference was to "calling out ignorance".
Guess I'll have to start writing big and talking slower.

No, mine sits just like jlavoie's above. You can see how the top hose is pressed against the engine cover a bit, rubbing and creating an indent on the hose. It doesn't seem to be hurting anything, and as long as it doesn't actually cut the hose, it's probably no big deal.

Hi all, Just thought I would add my experience. A couple of months ago, I had an APEX catch can installed on my wife's 2013 SS and one in my 2014 ZL1. Both cans are indeed "catching" oil. This reassures me it is money well spent!

Apex help me man! lol I have a 2014 2LT RS, will I benefit from this catch can? Do i need one on the dirty and clean side since it's a v6? What product do you suggest if it's applicable to my car? Is it easy to install myself? I'll PM you as well. Thanks!

~800 miles (of 1350 total) with Apex can installed. About 1/8 ounce of oil CAUGHT before it can get into the intake manifold! Great job Can:

Easy solution is to drain it when you change your oil. This is what most of the catch can manufacturers recommend in any case. Then just dispose of it when you dispose of the rest of your oil. If you are having your oil changed by a dealer or something, I would just ask them if they can drain it at the same time. Not really going to add any effort on their part, they are already under there and all they have to do is turn a valve. Most probably won't mind. If they do, not really a big deal. Never hurts to ask though.

Back in the day (back in the day I was an old teen) it was "be sure to open her up from time to time on the freeway to prevent carbon build up on the valves". Don't know if it was an old wives tale but there is some merit there.

I think that was mostly just a hot rodder's tale.
