Is the engine cover sharp enough to do anything to the hose if it rubs a little? I put some electrical tape on just in case to pad it a little, but I wasn't sure.

No. The hose is not up against the cover and even if it were there is no chance that it would severe it. The cover is not sharp and that hose is tough stuff.

I guess I cut my inlet hose slightly too short then? It has no problem fitting, and is pushed all the way in on both ends with some slack and a good bend, but it definitely hits the engine cover, and there's a small indent forming on the hose from the cover (now on the tape I used to pad it a bit). I figured the hose would be alright with how durable it seems, just wanted to make sure...worse comes to worse I'll just run without the cover until I buy the braided hoses. Thanks.

The "Catch Can" Explained!
.Called and spoke to someone at Apex today, said they'd call me back....
Ordered the catch can about three weeks ago for my LS3 and paid for the upgraded steel braided hoses. Installed it, then about two weeks later I ended up trading it in for an L99. So, now of course one of the hoses is waaaay too short to get on the other side of the engine for the L99. The guy said he'd call me back about the possibility of swapping out the one hose for the longer one, haven't heard yet.....

The quality of the can is awesome and my only complaint was my own installation.
Like some on this thread, the first way I routed the hose was shorter to the top inlet and while it looked ok, when I put the engine cover back on it was striking the line. The cover was not fully seated, this bugged me quite a bit. The best way I felt to route the line was BEHIND all the electrical lines and past the valve cover. A nice gentle curve allows it to sit wide of the engine cover and an easy slope to the inlet fitting. I reset my top line to be slightly left of center to make the match up even smoother. I am 100% fully happy now with how the line sits and the engine cover comes no where near it.

At the risk of sounding dumb I'll ask it anyway...what do you do with the fluid afterwards? Obviously it isn't just water, do you have to take it to an oil disposal location or can you just pour the fluid down the drain?

Hi all,
I've got about 1800 miles on my car since the RX can was installed. I haven't gotten a drop out of it - I mean NOTHING! I'm wondering if I have the lines backwards? It's installed center(inlet?) to the top port on the motor, and the side port (outlet?) goes to the lower port on the LS3? Is it backwards or is that the right installation. I supposed it's wonderful that it's empty, but I'm not much of a mechanic to the absence of oil in the can just makes me paranoid! Thanks Rod

Nevermind - I just went out and looked to be sure - center on the can is lower on the engine and vice-versa. Watched the youtube video to verify - it's correct but completely dry. I suppose that's good?

Hopefully I won't get flamed for this, but what I'd do is soak a paper towel in it and then chuck the paper towel in the trash..... The amount isn't like an oil change you know? That I'd take to a service station. But the catch can oil? Soak it in a paper towel and then trash the towel normally....

Pour it in with the used motor oil you're going to take to the parts store/recycling center. Eventually.

If it's open, the intake vacuum will pull air in through the drain valve instead of through the crankcase, and you'll get no collection in the can (not to mention any collection would immediately drain out the open valve, if you did).
