They could be working on a third...focused engine right now...in tandem with the Camaro Six's development....for a 2nd, or 3rd model year reveal? Perhaps a high-revving, naturally-aspirated track engine to serve as a successor to the LS7...and a GT-350 competitor? |

I saw that and thought it might indicate a new LTx but I figured it would end up being another turbo engine.

I have friends at several OEMs that work in Powertrain. They are going to work every day as far as I know.............
I have no clue what they are working on only that there is work for then to do.

I'm sure there is plenty to work on, just not another LTx V8.

We really have no idea what GM Powertrain's product plan is for the LT series. It would not be unthinkable for additional engine models to be in the works. Remember, they begin with the end in mind and they know the end. Just sayin.

Seems to me GM is consolidating the engines, which is why the LT4 was made cheap enough to go in more than just the Corvette. The only LT, LS and LT engine that did not go in a Corvette first was the LSA and that's because they already had the LS9 which was better. If there's going to be another LTx, there will have to be another Corvette to justify it.

I have no problem with a Grand Sport.....................that provides an engine to the Z/28

It would be interesting to have a GS and Z/28. Both stripped out, light weight track animals. I wonder how much weight can be stripped from the Z06 wide body.

I don't think another Corvette model is required. I think the company has grown out of it's infantile "Corvette gets it first" mode of thinking. That car's not being spoon-fed anymore.
They could stick whatever engine they come up with in the "Z/28", and in a rear-engined Cadillac...

You may be right that the LT4 is the last high performance V8 GM develops but I doubt it. A 650 HP V8 is impressive but has already been surpassed by the other US brands years ago.

I don't think the LT4 is the last performance V8 GM is going to build. The CT6 is supposedly going to get a TTV8 but Cadillac is wanting unique power trains, so the TTV8 may be a new DOHC engine. I just don't see GM building another LTx. Unless they rework the LT1 with CNC heads, a hotter cam and more compression. That's the most likely path but I wouldn't hold my breath for it.
