I get it, you don't like it and we all deserve our opinions so that is fine, there are a lot of valid reasons to not like it but "it is the same car" is not one. I promise you that if you de-badged them and had someone who has never driven either drive them that they wouldn't think they are the same car...in any way except for them both having bad visibility, lol. Again, not saying that it is superior or that there is anything at all wrong with 5th gens, I am just giving my opinion from a perspective of actually having owned and driven both....not just guessing without actually driven a 6th gen. |

![]() Please get off your pedestal and think you have the be-all, end-all opinion because you own a 6th gen. I've sat in, ridden in, and driven enough 6th gens up to this point to be able to form a valid opinion, and I think they are extremely similar cars to the 5th gen from an overall feel and experience standpoint. I've also taken my 5th gen close to it's absolute limits in many aspects to be able to create a very valid benchmark. I LOVE the interior of the 6th gen, but I didn't buy my Camaro for the interior. 30HP is also not a huge difference, and a manual is still a manual. I wouldn't buy an automatic, so any differences there are irrelevant to me, and do nothing for me. Trust me, the car I want most right now is a Cayman GT4, and I'm ALL ABOUT the European looks and handling capabilities, but the 6th gen's looks are sub-par at best to me. The hood is too rounded, the front looks like some sort of fish, and the rear looks like a Camry. Pictures, in person, doesn't matter, my opinion hasn't changed. I'm usually upgrading handling before anything, because autocross is extremely fun. But is it enough of a difference to warrant taking a $20k hit and spending $50k? Hardly. Let's face it too, handling is obviously a huge factor to people right now, because the Z/28 is totally dominating the Hellcat in sales.

We're all driving Camaros, and that's more important than what generation it is... Let's all play nice, so I don't need to be the big-bad moderator....please.

Hey Guys,
If you look at all the different car models and colors moving down the highway, and think that the owners of virtually every one of them thought that their car was the best car their money could buy, is it any wonder that we are not all going to agree on every aspect of whether a Gen 5 or Gen 6 is the better choice? :-) Those of us here have a lot more in common where cars are concerned than most people do. We all love at least some iterations of this American icon. And while it's cool to share our different opinions and make our cases for and/or against various aspects of updated versions, I don't think there's anything gained by going after each other's motives. I've only owned two new cars in my life - a 1977 silver Camaro and a 2014 silver Camaro. That being said, I'm happy for all of you who have been able to enjoy that new car experience a lot more often than I have! :-) By the way, I'm a mediator by profession, so I always like to see folks getting along. You guys are all great!

My personal story why I traded my 2010 1LT Coupe for a 2012 1LT convertible. When I bought my 2010 back in 2009 I was happy with it, there was no convertible model and nobody knew at that time if one would come out any time soon. Well in 2011 they did come out with the convertible but I told myself I am happy with my coupe. A year later my son bought one and I had the chance to taking a trip to the beach with him. Well that sold me, I wanted a Camaro Convertible. I have always enjoyed owning a convertible and the Camaro convertible fulfilled my desire. Did I need to trade? No. Did I want to trade? Yes. Was I wrong to trade? No. I am much happier with the Camaro I have now. This is to just explain that people have personal reasons why they trade for the same type car. It's not my place to judge anyone's motives on why or what they do or do not trade for because it's a personal decision each individual has to make on their own. You may not agree but it is not your place to tell someone what they do is pointless.

I love cars and technology so changes like that make it worth it to me, I don't give a crap personally about doing it "to just say I have a new car", in fact I have had mine for over a month and didn't tell a sole at work or call up any of my family to tell them because that is not what it is about. Like I said, to each there own. Let's enjoy whatever we have and not put down other's choices, we all are here because we love our cars and specifically our Camaro's. |

Damn. I didn't realize I logged into MG6...
Drive what you want. The 6th gen improves on what the 5th gen has. 5th gen is still a great car. Why does it matter what someone else likes?

Love the performance numbers.
Not sold on durability or build quality. The price is extreme as well in Canada over 60k for a decent optioned SS. Probably close to 70k for a 1LE.

I don't hate the 6th Gen...it's a great car!
I just don't make enough money right now to be able to get it..plus I'm still not sure I could fit in it.

I will be upgrading to a 6thgen hopefully once all the performance models are released but the new 1LE has a strong pull on me at the moment.

I still have to confirm this, but from what I have read the CA6 is a big step forward. After owning three fifth gens I do think the pre 2014 5th gen ZL1 is the high water mark for the best looking Camaro of all time. The 2014-15 ZL1s are a close second.
But the 6th gen Camaro is clearly a Camaro and a good looking car if a little cartoonish. The CA6es are having a few teething problems too. Someting we also experienced with the 5th gens. With the CA6 SS ZL1 level performance has dipped below $40K. How cool is that? As for me I will take the lighter, faster, better handling car with more modern amenities and a far nicer interior when the time and $$ make sense. Unfortunately for me this time has been pushed up to soon. I will miss my ZL1, but I am really looking forward to driving the new Camaro I am not knocking the 5th gen. It is still a great car. But time marches on. Enjoy your fifth gen and then one day you have a great car to move on to when it suits you or not. Spend some time in a CA6 before giving up on it. It might win you over. In the mean time enjoy your Camaro.
