The stock SS rear end is a weak link for sure. I upgraded to a ZL1 rear, aluminum one piece driveshaft and 1000hp axles. That is just one way to upgrade.

Many people have broken stock axles, with stock power at the track. The driveshaft to my understanding is not as prone to failure as the half shafts. But the point of my post is to tell you that your rear end will be at risk, with the power level that you are shooting for. Now only tracking the car once in a while, really doesn't matter as much as how you launch the car when you do track it.

When I was on my stock rear, and at the track, I kept the RPM's low, and avoided dumping the clutch. At the time I had already had the stock rear sold. So I didn't want to break the part. But people have broken them on first pass, or 30th pass. Just depends.

Contact Thomas from HE Engenerring, he can sell you a new one, or do for you what he did for me, and set you up with a guy who has them used. I picked mine up with 13k miles on it for 1300 shipped, You will still need to get the axles and half shafts. I would recommend you do the solid sub-frame bushings and differential offset bushings also. Thomas has those too, do some shopping around for the drive shaft and axles though, I could have gotten them cheaper but was too lazy to shop around.
