The Z/28 looks to be based on the ZL1 as well, or at least use the same hood and fenders. The fascia is similar but not quite the same.

If there is, I'm starting to think it less likely it will have a 7.0L LS7 in it...

If we see a Z/28, my bet is they will start with a ZL1 (for cooling, etc), and change the same sort of things from the factory...
No raced-up engine... has to stay stock for the race classes... except for dry sump and extra cooling to brakes and stuff.

The release said "race-tuned" ...could simply be a new fuel map for race gas.

No way there will be an LS7 released. If they have a need for a larger displacement engine there could be a LT1 based 7 liter.

So I just had a thought. With the history GM has with putting a ".R" at the end of a variant used for the racing programs (C6.R, C7.R, Z/28.R) and having a public street version without the ".R" does it seem plausible that maybe a new model or performance option package for the 6th gen called a GT4 is coming?

Interesting thought, but I am thinking ZL1/R

I have to believe the Z/28 is coming. But I just wonder with the 1LE and ZL1 where it gets positioned and what it's missio really is.

How do they get from here to there with the engines they have?

LT5? I agree a Z/28 is dependent on an engine we don't know about.
