So you believe he is only responsible for damage he requested?
That would mean that he is responsible for any damage the dealer causes because he requested them to work on it.

At that point there is no way for them to prove the damage happened while you had it, it would never stand up in court.

If they do call you out on it, it would most likely only be a couple hundred bucks to have a paintless dent company pop them out, those guys can work wonders. Either way I would not sweat it.
So
don't man up and do the right thing?

If you loan a car to a friend and it comes back with a dent wouldn't you expect him to pay for it, and visa versa?

If you have insurance your insurance covers you no matter who's car you
are driving.

Many years ago an uncle of mine was a salesman for large insurance company. The company provided cars to the salesmen.

He gets into a fender bender one day. My uncle had no insurance because he didn't own a car. The company had assumed that all the salesmen would have their own insurance so they did not insure the cars.
Hahaha, an insurance company that didn't insure their own vehicles

I imagine that in the long run, even paying out of pocket for the accident my uncle was involved in, the company still came out ahead of paying premiums on all the cars they owned. While all their salesmen who had their own insurance would take a hit with increased rates if their insurance had to pay out for a claim on a company car.

False.

Talk to any insurance company and they will tell you they cover the car, not the owner. If you are driving someone elses car and you cause an accident and get hurt, it is not on your insurance company to cover the injuries and damages. It is on the insurance company of whoever owns the car.

All I can say is wow. Everyone jumps,on dealerships for being dirtbags but people are telling him to hide the dents and act like nothing happened? Not sure what more to say.

This may vary from state to state, but I think typically, the collision/comprehensive follows the car and liability follows the driver. However, I think there is a difference between borrowing a friends car and driving a rental or a loaner from a shop. Insurance policies typically cover you if your car is being repaired.

If the op damaged the car in an accident, or ran over or into something, thus caused the damage himself, then yes, he is on the hook. But this is a little different, as he didn't cause the damage, it was a weather event. Now, while he may not be on the hook to repair their car in this case, he may be having to file a claim on his own if it got caught in the same storm while sitting outside at the dealership.

Either way, now is a good time for the OP to call his agent and ask this question.
