I do believe the Z28 is from the factory the Shelby is not. It's the equivalent of lingenfelter building a upgraded Camaro.

Why is this still a thing?

It's not even close to equivalent. The Shelby name on GT500 before and GT350 now is just a marketing tool. They are designed, developed, and manufactured completely in-house by Ford.

I just posted that video in response to the solid rear axle holding the Mustang back. While it's not ideal, if we're talking about a track car, it's not that big of a handicap.

I always appreciate the message forum's "ignore" option.
So wait, you sold a ZL1, purchased a Z/28 then sold it two weeks later, eating the depreciation? Never took a single picture of it? What was the VIN?

& if you're going to pretend, why pretend you have a Camaro? If I were to pretend to have a car I don't, it would be something north of $100k

It's more balanced and Ford definitely upped their game all around. The GT350R looks incredible, about 100 times better than the Z28 (which was a major disappointment to me). So far, I'm finding the Gen 6 to be another uninspired Corvette hand-me-down and I'm liking how Ford is progressing with the Mustang much more these days.

I'm digging the Challenger more and more, too. I've owned nothing but GM cars my entire life, but I'd be lying if I said the Camaro is by far the least exciting right now out of the Mustang, Challenger and Camaro.

It's not about brand loyalty, it's about quality and innovation. GM's bringing up the rear these days. What's maddening are brainwashed nutswingers that will contort any fact to boost their low self-esteem. That can be found on any car forum across planet Earth, though some a lot more than others.

Look at what we have, here.

We have Dodge running around with a 707 horsepower beast with back seats and at 4500 lbs that runs toe to toe in a straight line with the new Z06.

And we have Ford that radically redesigns the Mustang with a highly controversial new generation, and designs a radical new flat plane crank motor just for a special edition car.

And what does GM respond with? A 6th generation that looks almost exactly the same as the 5th generation but less aggressive, a 3 year old Corvette hand-me-down motor and, oh, they're reducing their powertrain warranty, right? I wish GM would get it together. Dodge and Ford are making groundbreaking strides and knocking it out of the park with aggressive designs and taking big risks, and GM's asleep at the wheel. GM knocked it out of the park with the 2010 Camaro because it was so bold and risky at the time. They've been hitting the snooze since they phoned it in with the 2014 refresh and the uninspired 6th gen.

Nobody is probably listening to me and nobody probably cares, but hopefully my disappointment with their lack of innovation reaches some important person's ears. I already feel I know what the 2017 ZL1 will bring - a current 5th gen ZL1 knockoff that's a little lighter with a boring, detuned LT4. Yawn.

I wish GM would take a page out of their playbook with the radical Stingray redesign. What a grand slam that was. Yet with the 6th gen Camaro, they decide to lean in, get hit by a pitch and take a free base.
I could go on and on about how ridiculous this post is, but I'll just point out one thing...

You said "less weight and an LT4...yawn". HAHAHAHAHA!!!

Yeah...that sounds pretty boring and terrible.

No, you've got it wrong.

He already has both the GT350 & R and is in the process of selling them both now because someone came up to him out of the blue at cars and coffee and offered him X dollars for them.

I think he's looking at Lambo's next..........

Agree except Poop is a Ford man so it would be a GT.

I pointed this out because it was blatantly obvious and IMO was to create a cover to praise the GT350 while dumping on the Z/28. Unbiased.

I've known it for months (?) and let Poop know subtly but he continued. Friday he PM'd me mocking that I didn't hint so I went for it. The claimed ownership history was so brief it didn't take long to paint the full picture.

FYI - He sold a GT500 to buy a 12 ZL1 but sold it due to heat soak while tracking. No indication in the ZL1 owners VIN list and he didn't start posting under this name until 14.

You're right, I did say that. Do you know why?

Because versus the GT500 and the Hellcat, the ZL1 with the LT4 will be the most underpowered and probably the slowest in a straight line.

And with the GT350R, whatever the high end "track Camaro" just may find itself nipping at its heels.

What is so YAWN are more "de-tuned" Corvette hand-me-downs. Just once I'd like to see a motor designed for a Camaro. You know, like what Ford does for Mustangs and what Dodge is doing for the Challenger/Charger. The LSA was actually kind of cool in a way because it wasn't in a Corvette, even though it was just a de-tuned LS9.

POOP has hit the fan, the Mustang guys are defending him over there because they say he is being ridiculed over here because he didn't give the Z enough praise. All we wanted was a picture of the Z!

The LSA is no more a detuned LS9 than its "just a LS3 with a supercharger"

Let's think about this for a second.

I own a Camaro. I have owned a Camaro for almost 2 years.

Before that I owned a 2001 Firebird.

Before that I owned a 1995 Firebird.

Before that I didn't have a driver's license.

Throughout my entire life, I have owned nothing but Firebird's and Camaro's. The reason why the GT350R is a million times better than a Z28 is because the Z28 was completely un-streetable. It was designed solely for the track. It has no options and the tires are useless in most real-world conditions. The GT350R will actually have driveability. A normal person could actually drive a GT350R around as a daily driver, even. This is not possible with a Z28. On a scale of 0 to 10, I rate the Z28 a '0' because it is completely useless for me and I could never see a world where it would be a viable purchase. Technically, it is infinitely better than the Z28 because anything multiplied by zero is zero.

As a lifelong GM Camaro/Firebird only buyer, that makes me the epitome of objective. You may want to check yourself.

As far as refinement, innovation, and development that went into the new Mustang (including the GT350/R), I can't disagree with you one bit. Ford went bold. Works for some, not so much for others.........
Then you can buy a 6th Gen Camaro when the time comes. This is aesthetics. They are completely subjective. What is not subjective is that the Z28 in stock trim is a useless car for street driving, and that's why it rates to lowly with me. GM didn't even try to sell them. No wonder they chronically sit at dealerships collecting dust.
