Don't Sleep on My V6
|
I know Diane she is in my Car Club and that is all she has for mods. The shop had just relocated to a bigger place an it was the Grand Opening. But the funny part is the other cars that were dyno'd that same day did as expected. So either the operator screwed up or the dyno needed a recalculation when she got on. But I would of thought as big as this shop is they would of caught this after looking at the numbers SMH!

as long as I been taking down our camaro dyno numbers I never seen a v6 camaro with only those mods put down that much tq. If it was dynoed on a loaded dyno such as a mustang or DD I would say that its possible that the vehicles input was put in wrong unless this was on a Eddie current version dynojet. Whatever the case might be, I would def take it back and ask them to redyno unless it was done free for new shop opening.

Look about right! stock auto put down about 250 stock. Only hp/tq maker you have in your list of mods are the intake and the long tube header. So about 20hp for both sound about right untuned. Remember, 2 advertised gain does not add up on top of each other. I need to dyno where you dyno
Got alot of numbers to update. |

Good numbers fsusmithc2.
So far, the stock numbers I've seen for the LFX are looking pretty consistent! Those numbers are basically what an exact 20% loss at the wheels would be due to it being an automatic. Thats great. I'm betting the LFX is a more consistent dynoer than the LLT was due to that new intake manifold and not getting so heat soaked. Engine runs more to its potential more of the time

or it could be that fussmith dyno is properly compensated for the correct drivetrain loss which I am almost positive that it is.. I really don't think the plastic manifold play a huge role in anything especially when it come to dyno because the car is usually cooled down after each run unless the dyno op is heat soaking on purpose. Out of GM's own engineers mouth, they said that the extra 11hp was achieved with bigger intake valves and more efficient cylinder head being that the exhaust manifold is integrated into the head.
I think it's all the same when it come to dyno. Some read high and some read low. It's always been like this from vettes to evo's. Perfect example would be abstract who dynoed at my place and got 249hp/216tq ASE corrected. Then fsusmith dyno 254hp/222tq ASE corrected. There's a 5hp and 6tq difference. Not much but still one is def lower than other but I'm sure they both have same 323 |

I don't expect to break any records with the Texas heat but early December seems a good time to do that with the denser air. So I should have plenty of practice before then. I'll start a thread on my build for the forums once I run it at the track so I can do a complete overview of the build and the nitrous system. Also ARD's dyno has a habit of reading 25hp lower than other dynos in the Houston area. |

Sweet Jesus!
TexasCamaro that is awesome...your car should be a rock star with all of those mods. Can't wait to see what kind of times you can put down. By chance will you be trying some N/A runs in addition to your nitrous runs? I know the heat kills performance, but it sure sounds like your V6 should be capable of very low 13s or better even without the nitrous. 12s easy with the nitrous assuming you get a decent launch with 11s being within reach. Keep us up to date in the V6 1/4 mile thread.
