R&T's PCOTY
The magazine is called Road & Track. The road part is why the Z/28 did not win.

I think many buyers of the Z28 would and have argued that the "Road" manner of the Z28 is quite good. I figure some would believe the Car & Driver Lightning Lap is a better venue for the Z, where it clearly shines.

They didn't pick the track focused Camaro Z/28 but instead picked the track focused Porsche 911 GT3......
From reading past articles Road and Track just don't seem to like the Camaro and they will try to keep from saying anything good about it period. I mean it is their publication and to each their own, though to pick the new Mustang GT over the Z/28 Camaro just seems a bit odd..... I mean if they were going to slam the Z/28 for being too much of a track car then why not bring a 2SS 1LE Camaro instead?..... |

I think the main thing driving this is that the Z/28 is so, like, mid-2014. Yesterday's news. Old hat...

The fastest track car, the Ferrari, didn't win either... probably because very few people are masochistic enough to want to drive it on an daily basis. |

For whatever reason both Road & Track and Car and Driver always just love every new Mustang that comes out. So it didn't surprise me that they put it ahead of the Z/28. |

I have to say that, the 2015 Mustang beat the 1LE around a track according to Road and Track, so it must be a fairly decent road course car. That was as good a matchup as is possible with pony cars. However, another magazine did that test and reversed the findings in favor of the 1LE. I would also bet that Ford is bench marking the Z28, for it's Shelby GT350.

Unless R&T had a pro driver with the consistency and professionalism of a Randy Pobst to be able to cantify his unbiased results, then and only then is when I will put faith in what they say with comparisons.
