You know, I understand what you're saying and I don't disagree necessarily. But I work in a technical field for a very large company. The majority of the incompetence I've seen in my industry actually results from the older "wiser" people up the food chain who are unwilling to change or accept feedback when processes need improvement. This discourages the younger, inexperienced people to the point that they no longer try to make improvements. I have the somewhat unique perspective where I started out as one of those young inexperienced guys, and now I'm moving into the more senior, wiser role - and I won't forget what it felt like to have great ideas and input for improvement only to be told "This how we've always done, no reason to change" and that management knows better.

Just my perspective, back to topic...

I just told my techs about this situation this morning. They all said what a crock of BS, there's no mechanical way a catch can will cause an oil system failure...shit if anything it helps the longevity of the engine.

I read more of this thread, guys this is more than likely not the dealership's fault. Their hands are tied. They're not going to do something they're not getting paid for. GM pays the warranty bill, not the dealership. If they do ANY work without a warranty auth they're not getting paid, period. So do go picketing lol

For those saying to the OP that it's tough luck since he modded the car...GM HAS to prove that the catch can caused the failure which is impossible. Yes it's going to suck having to lawyer up but this is complete and utter BS. TAC, lol...most are a bunch of ****tards. While I'm not a tech I do have to call sometimes or listen in on conversations...they're just terrible and have zero ability to think outside of the box or look at things other than what's on a wiring diagram(and even then sometimes they're still clueless).

Again, OP, good luck man. I posted this on my Facebook page and was able to get a few more signatures for you. I know there's not much I can do but if you get any info and need advice or bulletins looked up please don't hesitate to contact me via PM.

Boy I imagine these aftermarket companies are watching this REAL closely. I mean if GM is adopting this as "new policy" on how they're going to handle warranty claims in the future they'll effectively be putting all these vendors out of business. Catch-cans, throttle controllers, cold-air-intakes, who's going to be buying them if GM goes "hardcore" on this deny-warranty issue?

The dealer ran the engine with an oil pressure issue, taking the engine from needs an oil pump, to needs an engine status. You don't run an engine with oiling issues. When GM denied the repair, they returned the car broken, when they were the party who finished off the engine with improper diagnosis methods. By running the engine, they are very much at fault.

Bingo
The tech goes, oil issue, let me check that out. I'll drive it around the block and see. Get's back, yeah the car needs a motor, I barely made it back!

I cannot disagree with that in the least. I have seen both scenarios.

Pretty sure he was making a bad engineering joke. Lol

Does anyone know what the correct Oil Pressure range should be on an LS3? Just wondering if there are any signs of trouble that could be exposed by monitoring the oil pressure reading.

OK...so I was perusing GM Performances website.....and they list a bunch of parts for 1LE and ZL1 to "upgrade" your SS or V6 cars. Im sure we have all seen this. IN any case, with the current discussion.....I find it interesting that some parts are noted as "Will not void the vehicle warranty" while other ones are silent (implying they will void your warranty possibly?) The 1LE catch can, although it is a clean side uinit, is noted as "will not void warranty".....

Just saying

Thats perfect!!! Thank you for dooing so!! We def need more of this!!!

Please, everyone, especially those that are looking/ lurking... Even if you dont usually "participate" on a high frequency to the forums, THIS ONE can and does affect all of us that have Camaro's. GM is playing on rules that they think they can stretch all they want to their helping!! So yes!! if you are reading this post, PLEASE do like our buddy --- Dgnelson2 --- did just here..... And SIGN the petition in support!!! The more names we have, the more GM will see how many are looking at the way the treat their customers and feel the need to do what's right!!! Be certain THAT is important to them as the NEED the sales we bring every year!!!

I had a simlar problem at delivery of my new Camaro 2 months ago.... I also had to force em to do what needed to be done.... On THEIR dime!!! An NO, it wasnt all fun and pleasure (so much for the "experience!") but they are finally fixing the car next week (3000$ worth). And it went my way as soon as i started menacing posting to Facebook and other and also having a local journalist comment the way they did their business.....

So yes!! I know what its like to be alone against a machine as big as GM, but we wont let them have you give up! Especially in a situation where its cleanly evident that its NOT the blamed product's (Catch can) fault!!! Oil doesn't even go thru the darn thing!! Any kid with a minimum of mechanical interest can understand this!

Hoping you get some positive news from someone that finally wakes up within GM soon..... so you can put that sad episode of life behing you and enjoy the nice summer months ahead, in your CAMARO!!!!
