First off if u are in Germany isnt that where the autobahn is?(no speed limit?)
second off $500.00 dollars worth of tickets in fines is about 6 tickets and that my friend will get your license suspended twice over so unless you are planning on getting 6 tickets its not worth the expense.

I'm not someone to constantly speed but those things are enough to ruin my day even when I go by them and I'm doing the correct speed or slower.
good point because these unmanned radar units are always on. I forgot about them because my dept does not use these thing and the only place they are is on the highway, but i have not seen one yet.

Same here! My Beltronics has paid for itself many times over!!

Despite popular belief Radar is not exactly accurate all the time esspecially when it is "popped" on. I think the highway patrol relys on it too much. I have several in the family and my father and grand father both were radar technicians in the military and in the FAA for a combined 60+ years. They can and have blown holes through suposedly accurate speed readings given to them by CHP. My grandfather was even a motorcycle cop for the local PD and hated his radar gun. Laser on the other hand... Has it flaws, is better IMHO.
Anyway point being, it's saved me tons o cash... But latley I've been learning to drive slower in general in prep for the new Camaro :-)

I am a police officer and the only reason a radar detector will work for you is if the cop is lazy and just leaves the radar unit on as he is driving or sitting somewhere. If he is taking sample readings from random cars, and that random car happens to be you, it will only work if your vehicle can slow down at the speed of sound(or light if it is a laser radar unit). For example i was on patrol one night and observed a vehicle traveling at me what looked like a high rate of speed, I activated my radar unit and it gave me a reading of 55mph (30mph zone). I never saw a front end of a car dip down harder than this one. When I talked to the guy all he could say is "Yeah you got me". So in conclusion think about this before you go and spend a boatload of money on this virtually useless device.
I will agree to that. I always use a radar detector when taking trips (for many years). I guess I have always ran in to lazy cops because its always going off miles before I see them. Until this one night...BEEP BEEP BEEP and then the highway patrol right ahead of me hiding in trees . My bad.

Valentine one or Passport 9500

You get what you pay for.

Valentine looks a little 70's ish in styling, but it kicks ass...

I have a Whistler 1610 I'll sell you for $50

Dang Pheonix, I need to move it IL!! One ticket here in California will cost you at least $350, plus another $100 if the officer is a prick and dosn't verify your Insurance and registration and marks you as not having any (I speak from personal experience) plus another $50 or $75 for traffic school, plus $25-$50 for traffic school, or if you're not eligable for traffic school the point on your record will cost you another 40-60 a month in insurance...

Good point about the Autobahn, but! Not all roads in Germany are the Autobahn. (I guess those are the ones you should be good on and drive the speed limit)

at least you can drive yours year round without trouble with the weather. anyway the 75 dollars is just for a basic speeding ticket 1-21mph over limit the biggest one is 125 dollars not more than 40 over till you have reached the point of going to jail for reckless driving. and that is if you just pay and take the conviction on your record otherwise traffic school or the courthouse will take alot of money from you to keep your record clean.

I have a $40 Cobra that I bought from Walmart. It saves me all the time. I'm sorry but I rarely drive the speed limit. My porsche is so smooth at 75 and above. I have tried to go the speed limit but I just can't!!!!!! There is just a rush that I can't explain when I fly through traffic at 130+ MPH. The car is just so smooth. I can't believe the car was built 30 years ago. It stops, holds turns and slither's through traffic better than any other car I have owned. I realize people must curse me all the time, but the car is just so nice at high speeds!!!!!! Funny thing is....I don't speed in my other 6 cars. Only the porsche is addicting!!!!!!!

DrumDawg, I love that photo! I didn't realize that a porsche could also second as a shuttle carrier. I thought they only used 747's for that.
