I agree with the truck statements and why people think that. I love my V6, and even enjoy the sound of the exhaust...but a V8 rumble is just so sweet!!!

Yea guilty I try to associate the exhaust sounding like a truck. I do love the sound of my American Thunder.

I think the Corsa/ARH LT/CAI CAI trifecta is about as good as it gets on the LS3. Throw a blower on there and it's off the hook. I dig the electric cutouts too.

The stock exhaust is not impressive at all. Only slightly more impressive than the stock V6.

I'm 46 and am plenty familiar with what a proper muscle car sounds like. With all that, I rely enjoy my high revving LLT with LT's and ARK catback exhaust.

When I need to hear that V8 sound, I hop in my truck which sounds pretty freakin good too. JBA shorties, Magnaflow exhaust and Spectre CAI.

I would guess that most people would disagree. Especially after comparing before and after a muffler delete, like in this vid. Also, you'd be hard pressed to find more than one or two aftermarket exhausts for an otherwise stock car that sounds equal, much less better, than straight pipes IMO.

you're right. everyone will have their own opinion on it. in that vid, my opinion is that the stock exhaust sounds better. louder doesn't mean better.

it's also why i kept the stock exhaust on my 02 T/A the whole time i owned it. i never did hear anything on a 4th gen that didn't sound like a bass boat LOL.

Straight pipes usually don't have any good tone to them, they are just loud as hell. That said, it's still better sounding than a V6.

Co-workers called my car the "electric SS" because it was so quiet. Why couldn't GM put some soul into the exhaust note from the factory? I'll give Ford credit: there's no mistaking the growl of a 5.0.

(Yes, I'm running straight pipes, but I personally don't think it sounds like a truck.)

Then she goes on a rant about how her exhaust sounds so much better than mine.

I'm like, what?
tell her your johnson rod needs lubricating and ask if she can help.

What a coincidence! My car sounds like a truck, and you're built like one.
