It is too bad, just because they all say "Chevrolet" out front doesn't mean they are all the same. The good side, we get to have choice and find the best dealer.

This is what is so odd with the Camaro buying experience.
The salesperson wants to make the sale.
The dealership wants to make the sale.
The customer obviously wants the car.

But the dealer cannot get the car???????

GM makes 1500 more cars in September then they deliver, so why did they not allocate a car for you. If the September stats are correct, 1500 cars were distributed to dealers that had not been sold yet. Here is a customer that bought the car back in June and it cannot be delivered in September. I know you are frustrated with the dealership but why can't GM have a better allocation system.

Anyhow, it won't matter in a few days from now because you are going to love this car. Enjoy the Camaro and the negative buying experience will soon be forgotten. This car is worth the wait. They have built a beautiful car with excellent handling and performance. And if you choose to drive it in the winter, then it will be one of the nicest cars seen on the roads during that time.

September came around and the salesman said "it will be here soon, not much longer" I waited and then I got a call in the middle of September saying my car is built and it's on it's way and it will be there at the end of the week. So I asked for a vin number and the salesman said he would call me back with it. No call for the vin number of the car so I just went into the dealership. After waiting in the lobby for about half an hour my salesman told me that he doesn't know where my car is and that it will be here any day now.
3 weeks late my car still hasn't arrived and I still haven't gotten a vin number or a call about the car. I called head office and they told me my car wasn't even built yet! So i went in to see the manager but he was busy, and my salesman just kept telling me that it will be here any day, completely ignoring that head officer said it wasn't built. I went in again to see the manager and he wasn't much more help. He said that I have to wait and if I want to cancel my order he has a bunch of people that would buy it from him. And he completely ignored the fact that head office said it wasn't built yet too.
So i just kept going in every day asking the same questions until finally they called to tell me it's in, but it wouldn't be ready until Friday...horrible service if you ask me.
Hope none of you go to Dean Myers!
And if you do, don't expect much help from the manager Clay, he doesn't seem to care about his customers!

I think the negative buying experience is what is keeping the car rare!!!! In a way, it's a blessing in disguise. HAAHA Friggin' GM. I don't think they'll ever learn.

I ordered my car on June 8th...I still have not received it, furthermore it hasn't even been pulled for production (I'm still at 1100)! I am still waiting on an allocation! So my opinion is...if you aren't willing to wait for it, FORGET IT! That way, there are less cars to make and mine will get pulled sometime in the near future!!

Because they (and every other major manufacturer) legally have to give cars to some dealers who didn't ask for them before they can give them to others who may have a waiting list 10 deep. They can't have a better allocation system because they are obligated to send dealerships certain numbers of different vehicle types, based upon a multitude of factors. If their estimates are off by a couple percent for each factor can accumulate into huge discrepancies, causing one dealership to have a massive waiting list while another has several cars sitting on its lot.

Its a old system that probably works well enough 99% of the time, but it seems like the Camaro is the exception (which is proving to be pretty common) at GM.

I was quoted roughly mid-july, got here beginning of August. What do you expect of a vehicle that is in such high demand.

As to the Equinox, for whatever reason, they are popular now (I have one, and it's by far one of the worse SUVs I have ever driven).

To the OP, if you REALLY want one soon, I'm in Hamilton, there's a dealer on the corner of Rymal Rd. and Upper James. He's sold about 6-8 of them, and ALWAYS gets a replcaement from GM in like a week or two. There's one there now, but I'm pretty sure it's white with orange stripes. Point is, if you're willing to make the trip, with his placement in the order process, they might be able to get you one sooner.

EDIT: Call GM customer service! 2 days before mine arrived it was stilling telling me in post-production, or whatever. My dealer didn't know squat. So I called them, they were incredibly polite and helpful, she told me I could expect the car in a week, two tops; said it not having arrived was a unreasonable delay (it acutally had been built, and was sitting in quality control for longer then they're ever suppose to, she said). Then magically the car arrived two days later.

Let me tell you my friend, the WAIT is a KILLER,but worth it.I was extremely impatient waiting for mine and thought all or most of what you are saying, the car is simply THE GREATEST THING SINCE SLICED BREAD!!!!!!You will love it, your friends and family will love it and you will get more LOOKS and DROP MOUTH STARES then a NAKED WOMAN walking down main street!!!!I am 49 years old and I feel like a 25 year old again,my wife loves it TOOOOOOOOO!!!!!It is your choice and money, and believe me the DEALERS ARE IDIOTS AND ARE G.M.'S BIGGEST PROBLEM,so please don't take it out on the car, you will REGRET IT IN THE LONG RUN.OH and for the Z28, don't hold your breathe,I work for G.M. and we have not even started a PILOT run for the new engine.

-I'm not going to store it as soon as I get it and just let it depreciate

-Will put an order for the z24 when it comes out perhaps late next year.

-I have a license plate (Ontario) that says "BUMBLEBEE1"

If anybody wants to buy it from me to have it transferred, I would love to let it go for whatever I paid for it. I think it was $250.

I also happen to have a 2LT Transformers Edition on order at Bob Myers Chev in Ajax that I'm sure they'd love to find a buyer.

Fed up with waiting...all the recalls (HVAC problem included most recently)

I know there are a lot of die hard fans of the Camaro on this site and you'll all flame me but I have to say that I am NOT a die hard fan. Just a BIG fan of the car's stylings and what I fell in love with when I test drove it...TWICE. Of course, I loved it in the movie so yes I am a bit of a fanboy. Takes all kinds right?

I'm calling the dealership tomorrow and buying a much cheaper motorcycle that I always wanted. I'll get my kicks that way. ^_^
hey maaang! i ordered mine around the same time as you.. july 7th.. i'm still waiting on mine... i didn't even get a tpw yet.. but i'm still gonna wait.. i dunno if you cancelled yet but duuuude hold out man! it'll be worth it! and so what if it's getting cold? out of all the snow days we get, there's only a handful of those where the roads are not cleared enough to drive.. you can still drive your 'maro in the winter man!! just change to winter tires!

yea i saw and hopped in this one the other day.. it's pretty sweet actually so you might wanna give them a call.. they were practically trying to get me to go for that one instead of continuing to wait.. but i want my ABM.. so i'll wait.. and now that ABM is no longer a colour choice for the car.. it makes it THAT much rarer!!

Jebus at your rate they might not have any ABM paint left before the order is picked up.
