I think they started adding the Backup sensors in late August, and discontinued the Chicklets and Performance Division badging in mid-late Sept.

I'm not one to get too excited about something being "rare" - even for chicklets or ABM paint on a car like this, it remind me too much of the balding 40 year old Trek fans who run over small children trying to get the latest Captain Kirk action figure, then keep it in its packaging for 20 years because it'll become "valuable". To paraphrase the great philosopher Ferris Bueller, men with their priorities so out of whack don't deserve such a fine automobile.

That said, I like it there too. It's another little detail on the car, not an important one, but it works. If they fall off at some point, I'll be okay, but while they're there I'll be happy with them. As for trapping wax and dirt, at least they have four straight edges on them. The curvy "Camaro" above them is more of a pain for that stuff.

How did you find out the exact day??? Does anyone know if the build sequence info is available after you take delivery? (I did not order mine....it was an in stock unit at another dealer that was traded to my dealer for me)

'Government Motors' chicklets are becoming collector items.

Install them 3 1/4" off leading fender edge and 1 1/16" up from the rocker / fender seam.

My Oct 2009 production SS has backup sensor, GM Perf badging, no 'chicklets'. Until now...

what color is your 2011... does it have the HUD and what do you think of it...I think it would be a bit distracting...

You can go to your dealer and ask them for the build sheet (workbench). Or you can PM one of the fine dealers on this forum and provide them with your vin!!

The no chicklet...rear backup sensor...GM Performance Division badge cars are indeed a rare breed. The GMPD badge only lasted for a short time after the chicklets went away. This will be a cool oddity for vehicle identification on first MY 5th gens decades from now.

In all honesty, I am glad that I don't have the chicklets on my 2011 2SS/RS. As someone mentioned, they trap dirt and wax after a while. And conversely, I am quite happy to have the back up sensors in the back. It's nice to know that I won't be hitting a curb or the wall in my garage as I put the car away each night. I like that little extra security blanket. But this is coming from a large SUV I had with them on, so I am used to them, where you definitely needed them!

I had to have mine repainted due to merging on to a highway behind a dump truck that was dumping stones and I wound up with a set I didn't have originally. I didn't ask for them, the dealership body shop just put them on. I was going to have them remove them, but they kind of grew on me. I have the performance badge and back up sensors, now I have all three.
