If the 370Z improves over the already-good 350Z, it'll be an awesome car.

However, I'd still take the Mustang GT. The Nissan has better gas mileage, but Car and Driver reports the same times for the 370Z as the Bullitt, so I'd have to assume the 2010 GT will match the Z.

Also, practicality is a big issue. The Z only has 2 seats compared to the 2+2 of the Stang. Also, the Z might as well not even have a trunk. Can't even get a golf bag in there.

The new 370Z has a more powerful engine and is lighter in wieght the first gen Z so it will be faster than the current Bullit and 2010 Mustang GT in every category..

Nope, it's about the same. The safety standards added about 100-lbs, but Nissan reduced the weight in other places.

It does have more horsepower, but in terms of torque, the GT has a clear edge.

They're evenly matched in times because the GT has more torque and larger displacement, whereas the Z will have less weight. I'll concede that the Z is probably more fun to drive due to the handling and aerodynamics.

Don't get me wrong, Nissan is by far my favorite Jap car company, and a Z would be a great fun car. However, its practical use is limited, and it looks like I can get the same speed from the Mustang I already own.

the acceleration was about the same BEFORE, now the stang gained a laughable 15hp, and 100lbs, while the Z gained 35hp and drops 200-300lbs.

Dont be suprised if the 2010 Z edges out the 2010 stang in the straights long before it leaves it in the dust through the corners.

btw.

they took off 250+-lbs. Period.

The fact that they gained 100 in the name of safety is irrelevant because they still managed to take 250lbs off with that included.

too bad those safety nuts are out there, otherwise we're looking at a 3000-3100lb Z ...

I don't know where you found those figures, but they aren't correct.

The Z weighs about the same, it certainly didn't drop 200-300 lbs; it gained 30, to be precise. The 350Z weighed in at 3320 lbs, and the 370 at 3350. The 370Z has the EXACT same times as a current model Shelby GT; both will run 0-60 in 5 flat and has a quarter mile of 13.6. Ford said the 2010 would perform almost identically with the Shelby GT/Bullitt. So it'll be a dead heat between a 2010 and a 370Z, but the 2011 should blow the doors off of it in the straights.

I am anxious to see a Nismo tuned version of the 370Z. Let's hope this economy doesn't prevent Nissan from doing it.

I've got the Car & Driver review of the 370Z on my desk here, I'll post it later tonight.

you didnt factor in the 370s trans which is far superior to to the stangs and will get the 370 into the high 4s 0-60...

My bad, the weight of the 370 is more than the 350...read it wrong before. However it is faster than a Mustang GT bullit after the added HP..
