Was there wheel-hop going on when you launched? The reason I ask is that I know in the IRS for the Cobra Mustangs the hop is what would kill the half shafts?

My 2 previous runs had real bad wheel hop...and the run where she broke, I didn't even get off the line.

I'll guess then it was probably the hop that did you in. It's a chronic problem with the stangs and I am sure it's the same with our Camaros. With my Cobra I could run drag radials and really air them down to 16-18 lbs this really helped with the hop issue. I haven't had a chance to run the Camaro at the strip yet, I'm hoping with the Nitto 555s aired way down I can launch with little hop. Most of the SVT guys suggested going with a soft sidewall slick to eliminate the hop completely.

Wheel hop will do it. A good set of rear sub frame and differential bushings, trailing arms, and toe rods will take care of it.

That's what I thought. Pretty common problem with people that truly run their cars and keep them stock. Time for heavy duty axles upgrade.

This is why I am working on the suspension before any track time.

Yeah, it's always the one on the passenger side that craps out.

Excellent!

Now I wonder how long it will take for the holier-than-thou folks to start chimeing in with their same old cries of "you're ripping off GM', "you have to pay to play", blah blah blah?

GM shouldn't btich, they didn't build this car as a Sunday driver, you cannot expect a car with a 6.2L V8 and 400+ horses to be babied. It was sold with the premise and marketing of running hard.

they would be hypocrites if they didn't cover it.
