Tuning out AFM/DoD, no difference....

Has anyone with a L99 noticed that tuning out Active Fuel Management has no effect on your fuel economy? I don't know what it is, perhaps it's the JRE tune, but I was getting close to 14.9L/100 KM [15.8 MPG] (Fairly aggressive driving) and now I get between 15.1 and 15.3L/100 KM [15.4 MPG]. I'm starting to think that AFM hardly activates ever. I know I have read that there is a certain criteria that will activate it but it really pisses me off that we have to tune it out if we want the unrelenting power that is inside of the L99 without any lag. Before anyone says, yes I know there is no one telling my I have to tune my car but I decided to anyways.

I'm one of the guys that believes that the way Ted Jannetty tunes both the ECU and TCU is the way the car should have come stock. Big shout out to Ted BTW, thanks for the tune and I look forward to buying more parts from you!

The difference will be seen on the highway. Around town driving won't be affected much.

When I deleted AFM/DOD I did notice my highway mileage come down. But around town driving remained pretty much the same.

Mine went down a little bit, but not enough to make a big difference... maybe one or two mpg on the highway.

I still do between 14 and 15 in town.

Does anyone know if a Chevy dealer is willing to disable the AFM?? I am so tired of the lack of response on the highway when trying to merge, pass, etc. The AFM also shuts down the bank to 4 cyl at lower speeds, even around 30mph! It's a dog in the city, and a part time 8 cyl on the highway. (L99 Auto). Any suggestions?? Just don't want to void the PT warranty, all I want is that annoying damn AFM turned OFF. Thanks!

OOPS!! I see this is a popular question, got my answer on another thread. Seems that the dealers are not into turning it off, and I'm pretty much stuck with it or a permanent message stored that it has been "tuned" thus voiding the PT warranty. Soon as I can it will be traded in for a manual. I cannot believe I let my wife talk me into a freakin auto. Never again. :(

I've got to state this again: AFM must vary from car to car.
With my stock auto L99 I never detect the AFM kicking in or out. Since I didn't want to void my warranty and was worried about droan, I waited for the Solo J-pipe axle backs.
I swear I still can't tell.

Mine wasn't to bad after MBRP catback, but after long tubes and high flow cats it was super noticable..Sounded like a 4 banger diesel....

Bro with AFM Im getting 10-12MPG so Be Happy lol.. I notice it on the Freeway Ocasionally if im crusing below 2K Rpm and then Accelerate You can Hear and Feel the Other Cylinders Kick in, It really Donsent Do much Unless You're Cruising at Low Rpm's For a while (FreeWay). And theres Really No Reason To Deactivate It Unless You're Getting a S/C Or some other Major Power Adders

And if you find a dealer that will turn OFF the AFM...never mention their name in print. I was told that altering a car's ability to meet CAFE standards is a HUGE fine if caught by the feds by my dealer.

My L99 is having an E-force installed...so I will never experience the drone.

I test drove a stock white camaro and never noticed the AFM. I then found / bought another camaro in IOM that had the GM factory performance exhaust and immediately noticed the afm. If your just cruising around no matter what speed your at it kicks and has an annoying sound from the exhaust.....sounds like a 4 cyclinder diesel as someone already mentioned.
