L99 Passing Gear Issue?

I apologize if this is listed somewhere but I couldn't find it. It seems like my SS has been "falling on it's face" lately. It feels like its not downshifting enough when it drops into passing gear. For example, if I floor the car at any speed other than 15 mph... it's only jumping up to 3000-3800 rpm. This seems really low to me. At 15 mph, it hops up to 4500 rpm. At 20 mph though... 3000 rpm. Is this normal? I've done the fuse pull and am running 91 in it. It has been 100+ outside, but in the morning when its cooler I'm still having the same issue. Its 100% stock. Any advice?

Typically in D... but I have tested both and it doesn't matter what mode I'm in... I always get the same result

I've never drove in D much, but I remember my stock SS never really did that.

Did you buy your camaro new or used?

If used I thought maybe someone messed up a transmission tune.

Hmm, sounds like you need to take it to the dealership. They'll probably want to drive it and see if it does it for them.
The key thing is, it has to do it for them in order for them to work on the car under warranty.

I thought a tune may help. It not a hesitation thats the issue though... the car is falling on its face and not downshifting enough IMO. If your L99's didn't downshift and rev up to only 3000-3800ish rpm then that tells me theres an issue. If I keept it floored it will really start to go once it hits 4500 rpm but should be a lot closer to that rpm when it 1st downshifts IMO...

Yes.. 91 is premium here. I go out of my way to get to the gas station that sells it because most of them run 90. Shell, however, has 91.

I have the SS auto also but do not punch mine enough to help you on your question. I do feel for you on the 90-91 octane. In my home town nearly all stations are posting 91. I know of one fina that has 92 posted, but I also know they are mixing ethanol. I keep thinking tune, but loss of warranty and if you can only find 91 octane. Like they said may have to take to dealer. I have had my 2010 for 16 months and knocking on wood have not had to let the dealership touch mine. Hope you find the answer. Happy motoring.

If your TCM has been tuned, your tuner may have not altered the part throttle downshift tables. This is where you will see the downshifts to 1st gear up to 30mph.

I know i saw an article on an independent gasoline study on this site about how many gas stations posting 91 octane were only testing at about 89-90. Check the general discussion topics on here.
If you are putting in 91, you may only really be burning 89 or 90 octane and in that case your ss will run like shit. I live in Florida where we can get 93 on every corner. Superchips has a handheld tuner that has a tune in it for 91 or 93 octane. That's what i use in mine. The transmission tune alone is worth the cash. It will fix that downshifting problem.
