Product(s) Review - Rinseless Wash, Cobra Guzzler & Waffle Weave

I changed or added some products to my car detailing and thought I would pass on my impressions.

Part of the reason for adding these products was the fact that in West Texas we are in the midst of a very severe drought with no end in sight. We have some water restrictions now and more are coming. Cooler weather is coming at us and reducing the amount of water it takes to clean a car is just the right thing to do given our present circumstances.

For the wash, I went with DP rinseless wash & gloss. From reading a few of the threads on the detailing forums pretty much a toss up between it and ONR and the price was the same.

I was a little more worried about what towels to use. I have been using a leaf blower and then the absorber for what little needed to be blotted up after the blower. These tools has worked very well for me for many years.

Decided to get two different types of towels. The Cobra’s Guzzler Heavy Duty Waffle Weave Towel and a large waffle weave the Sonus Der Wunder Microfiber Drying Towels.

The wash - mix instructions - use 1oz per 2 gallons. I mixed up 4 gallons, I did two washes. First test run on my truck / second run on the Camaro. Both vehicles had been clayed, polished and waxed within the last month. Neither vehicle have seen any rain since the full detail so there wasn't any road grim to speak of, just a lot of dust.

No pre-rinse and I used a new very soft wool wash mitt. The wash is very slick going on. Instructions are to wash and dry one panel at a time. The Cobra Guzzler (the gold towel) seemed to work best on the horizontal surfaces. The description of this towel includes some stuff about having a sponge laminated in it. I used it like a blotter and it is very absorbent, The other towels are nice and large and really worked well on the vertical panels.

A couple of in-process pictures below. I am very impressed with these products and this wash process. I did not see any marring or scratching from the wash mitt and or dust. As I mentioned, there was no road grim like what you would get from driving in rain so I can't really judge the cleaning ability. Both cars do have a very nice shine after this process.

To wash both the truck and the Camaro (not including the wheels and tires) a little less than 4 gallons plus two rinse buckets. Wheels and tires I cleaned them same way I always have, dedicated wash bucket/mix and heavy hose rinse. I'm just spooked about all that brake dust.

Final note - my wife saw the Cobra Guzzler towel and said "....I have a towel just like that...." She went and got it looks like the exact towel, just a different color and it's called a "Original Dish Drying Mat" avaliable from Bed Bath and Beyond for ....about 10 dollars less than what I paid. If ya want to try this save a few bucks and get the rebrand...!

Nice write up!! I use ONR on my vehicles when they are just dusty as well. I'm thinking about trying DP's next time.
